Chapter 519 No One Will Stay for Her (1)

Lily took a fearful step back and explained, "Jessica's dad passed away. I want to go see her."

Michael's face showed a trace of astonishment.

Did John die?

Suicide out of guilt?

Lily thought it was only natural to go and pay her respects since Jessica's father had passed away.

But unexpectedly, Michael coldly ordered, "You are not allowed to go!"

Lily looked at him in disbelief and explained, "I'm just going to pay my respects. I'll be back soon."

Michael's eyes were cold, without a trace of warmth. "Do you not understand what I'm saying?"

Lily was on the verge of tears and said, "I'm begging you, let me go, okay?"

Michael's eyes flashed with anger, and he suddenly pulled her into his arms.

Gripping her wrist tightly, Michael said, "I said you are not allowed to go!"

With that, he turned around with her in his arms and suddenly pressed her against the cold wall behind them.

Michael's kiss swept through her mouth like a storm, invading deeply, just like every unexpected punishment.

Lily closed her eyes tightly, tears silently streaming down her cheeks.

She thought, if she had a knife right now, she would definitely stab this Michael who humiliated her at will!

It was only her remaining rationality that made her passively endure all of this.

When James returned to Ocean City, it had already been a day and a night since John's death.

He hurried out of the airport, and Sean immediately came to pick him up.

James had already heard about John and was extremely anxious.

He scolded, "I was only gone for a few days, and I told you to keep a close watch on the Evans family and Michael. How exactly were you watching them?"

Sean said nervously, "Mr. Kelly, I really was following your instructions, keeping an eye on John and Lawyer Watson! But these past two days, John hadn't met with Lawyer Watson at all. He just stayed at home, occasionally taking a walk nearby. I didn't expect that he would suddenly commit suicide yesterday morning."

"I'll deal with you later!"

James threw out a sentence, took the car keys from Sean's hand, and hurried to the Evans family.

As soon as he reached the entrance, he saw the funeral parlor standing in the yard, with occasional guests coming and going to pay their respects.

At this moment, James suddenly noticed the man beside Jessica was Nathan.

A trace of anger flashed in his eyes.

What right did Nathan have to be at John's funeral?

In what capacity?

With that, he walked straight towards the funeral parlor.

He didn't stop until he was in front of Jessica.

Looking at Jessica in front of him, his heart ached faintly.

It had only been a few days, but her face was so pale and haggard, making her look extremely pitiful.

Jessica looked up, her eyes devoid of any emotion, as if she were looking at a stranger.

James's heart sank, and he moved his lips but couldn't say anything.

At this moment, any explanation or comfort seemed meaningless.

Nathan, however, was by Jessica's side, showing concern. "Jessica, go have some water and rest. You haven't rested since yesterday."

Jessica gently shook her head and said, "I'm not tired. I just want to stay with my dad."

Seeing the two of them so close, James couldn't help but feel annoyed.

So, from yesterday to today, it had been Nathan who was with her all along?
