Chapter 215 Let's Give Grandpa a Great-Grandchild

Jessica leaned into his arms, holding him tight. "James, do you know when I started liking you?"

"Hmm?" James smiled. "When we got married? Love at first sight?"

Jessica sighed. "Is love at first sight even real? There's always a reason. You're good-looking, rich, and powerful, but that's not why I like you."

James felt touched and curious. "I've been so cold to you since we got married. Did you fall for me after that?"

"I'm not a masochist!" Jessica rolled her eyes. "Remember I told you about being bullied in school and a senior saving me? Harmony Academy is a top school in Ocean City, and my dad worked hard to get me in."

Jessica's eyes sparkled. "Before I met you, my days there were tough. But meeting you changed everything. Even just catching a glimpse of you made my day. It's a shame you were a senior when I was in seventh grade, but you left a deep impression on me."

James's mind drifted back. He'd been young and bold, backed by the Kelly family. He never imagined he'd saved Jessica.

He kissed her forehead. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"Would it have changed anything?" Jessica's voice was bitter. "When we first got married, you barely spoke to me. Then Rose showed up. You wouldn't have believed me."

"I'm so sorry, Jessica," James said, his voice cracking. He held her close, feeling the weight of his past neglect.

Jessica sighed softly. "James, right now, I feel like I'm living in a dream. I'm so happy."

Her words cut him deeply. How little had it taken to make her feel this way? How neglectful had he been?

"You didn't eat tonight. I picked this up for you," James said, opening a small box with a chocolate cake inside.

Jessica remembered her birthday, hoping he'd come back. Even a small cake like this would have made her happy.

James apologized, "Jessica, from now on, I'll be there for your birthdays."

"But I feel happier today than on my birthday." Jessica took a bite of the cake, smiling at him. "There's a lyric that goes, 'With the the right person, every day is Valentine's Day.'"

She offered him a spoonful of cake. "It's so good, you should try it too."

James didn't usually like sweets, but he took the bite because it was from Jessica. They shared the cake, enjoying the moment.

His voice was a low whisper in her ear. "Jessica, Grandpa's been talking about wanting a great-grandchild."

Jessica understood immediately and let him carry her to the bedroom.
