Chapter 349 Sharing a Bed with James? (3)
"Still arguing, huh?" James snapped at her.
But Rose saw right through it. He wasn't actually mad at the caregiver for not taking care of her properly. He was just annoyed that she fell and called him over in a rush.
Rose quickly chimed in, "James, don't blame her. I just wanted to get back on my feet and head to the dance studio. So, I was practicing a bit."
"How are you feeling now?" James asked, sounding worried. "Does your belly still hurt? If it does, I can take you to the hospital."
Rose shook her head with a smile. "Seeing you makes everything better. I think the baby just missed his dad and gave me a few kicks."
James sighed, his face a bit cold. "Starting tomorrow, the caregiver will go with you for your prenatal checkups and other stuff. I'm tied up with an unexpected situation, so I won't be able to be there with you."
Rose was stunned and immediately on alert. "What's happened? Is it serious?"
James nodded. "Yeah, my grandpa is really sick. I need to be at the hospital as much as I can."
Rose was shocked. She didn't expect Gerald to be seriously ill. She thought, 'This is a blessing in disguise! Gerald's strong opposition kept James from being with me and led him to marry Jessica instead. I've always held a grudge. Now, Gerald is finally nearing the end.'
Even though she felt pleased inside, Rose put on a worried face. "Should I go see Grandpa too? Even though he doesn't like me, I still care. Your problems are my problems."
"No need, Jessica is there taking care of him," James sighed, looking tired. "Just take care of yourself and don't cause me any more trouble."
Rose was taken aback. "Jessica is there? But didn't you two get divorced? It's not right for her to be there."
James explained, "Grandpa doesn't know about our divorce. For now, Jessica and I will take care of him and be with him in his final days."
Rose was furious. She had worked so hard to get rid of Jessica, and now that woman was back because of Gerald!
Suppressing her jealousy and hatred, Rose smiled slightly. "James, I think Grandpa would want to know he has a great-grandchild in his final moments. Why don't we tell him? It might make him very happy!"
Rose secretly vowed, 'I won't let Jessica get close to James again. That damn Gerald, why can't he just die quickly? He even called Jessica back.'
Rose kept trying to use the baby in her belly to sway James.
But hearing her suggestion, James frowned and said sternly, "No! You know Grandpa doesn't like you. Even if you're carrying my child, he won't accept you. If you go, it'll just upset him with no benefit at all."
Hearing James's constant refusals, Rose was furious.
She thought, 'After his divorce and my pregnancy, how could he still treat me like a secret affair? Do I not even have the chance to see the head of the Kelly family? Why can Jessica, that discarded woman, stay by Gerald's bedside? What's the difference between being divorced and not being divorced?'
