Chapter 256 I'll Do Whatever You Want
Jessica's words hit John like a ton of bricks, and he finally bought what she was selling. After hanging up, her face turned stormy, and she stormed out of the room.
In the kitchen, Olivia was whipping up a late-night snack.
Jessica strolled in and took a whiff. "Mmm, smells awesome. Is that oatmeal?"
Olivia grinned, "Yep, it's getting chilly, and oatmeal's good for you. Mrs. Kelly, you should head upstairs and chill. I'll bring you a bowl when it's done."
"Show me how, I'll make it," Jessica said, surprising Olivia with her offer to cook.
"Mrs. Kelly, are you serious?" Olivia asked, wide-eyed. "Are you really gonna cook for Mr. Kelly yourself?"
Jessica forced a smile. "Yeah, isn't that how Rose keeps him happy?"
Olivia was thrown for a loop. This was so not Jessica. But she wanted James and Jessica to be happy, so she patiently walked her through the oatmeal-making process.
Just as they were wrapping up, James walked in.
Olivia quickly served up a bowl and rushed over. "Mr. Kelly, you gotta try this. Mrs. Kelly made it!"
James looked at Jessica, shocked. "You made this?"
Jessica, not used to the praise, replied awkwardly, "Yeah, it's my first time. No clue if it's any good."
James, feeling all sorts of emotions, took her hand and led her to the couch. "Let me give it a taste."
The oatmeal was super soft, and the flavor lingered. He fed Jessica a spoonful. "You gotta try this."
Jessica thought it might be a disaster, but she was pretty pleased with her first go.
Still, her mood was way off from the cozy oatmeal, tinged with a bit of bitterness.
Jessica never wanted to suck up to anyone. But now, to get justice for John, she had no choice.
After they finished, James held her hand and asked, "Are you still mad at me?"
Jessica sighed, "Of course I am. You embarrassed me in front of her. No wife can just accept her husband having a kid with someone else."
James leaned in, touching his forehead to hers, and whispered, "I'm sorry. You know I have my reasons. If I could, I'd cut ties with her and that kid in a heartbeat."
Jessica shot back, "Really? You don't have any feelings for her at all?"
He placed her hand on his chest and said softly, "My heart's all yours. There's no room for anyone else."
Jessica muttered, "But seeing her makes me remember your betrayal. What am I supposed to do?"
James stroked her cheek and cooed, "I know this has been rough. But you gotta trust me. I won't let her mess with your life or our relationship."
Jessica said, "Won't you? Then why did my dad get beat up by someone she hired? Why are we in this mess when everything was fine?"
Jessica's questions left no room for Rose. James followed her lead and asked, "So, what do you want to do? As long as you don't stay mad at me and stick by my side, I'll do whatever you want."
