Chapter 148 Five Million Dollars In Compensation

At Serenity Hospital, Pearl and Joan were freaking out.

"Damn, what do we do? James even sent your grandma to jail. Are we next?" Joan said in horror.

Since Louisa got taken by the cops last night, Joan hadn't slept at all.

Pearl was worried too, "All my abortion records are destroyed, right? If they find them, we're screwed!"

Joan reassured her, "Relax. That doctor is on our side. If she didn't destroy them and it gets out, she's in trouble too. She was a big part of our plan!"

Pearl was still nervous, "What about Mary? She won't wake up, right? Did Dad take care of her in Auroravale?"

Joan laughed, "Mary's still out of it and back here. I had a servant ask her son. Even the experts in Auroravale said there's no hope! She's basically a vegetable!"

Pearl sighed in relief, "Good. Mom, don't worry! Grandma locked up Jessica. As long as we say Jessica pushed me, who can prove otherwise?"

Just then, they heard the noise from the door.

Joan frowned, "Is that Gerald from the Kelly family? "

"And Jack too?"

Pearl quickly lay down, pretending to be sick.

Joan opened the door.

Not just Gerald and Jack, but James was there too.

Joan saw the expensive gifts they brought and smiled, "Mr. Gerald Kelly, you're so kind. We're grateful you came to see Pearl. You didn't have to bring gifts."

Gerald replied, "No need to be so polite! Pearl's been through a lot; we had to show concern."

He gave Jack a look.

Jack handed Joan a bank card, "Here's five million dollars, compensation from my grandpa."

Joan got the hint.

They wanted to settle everything with five million dollars and be done with Pearl.

Though she didn't like it, Pearl had lost the baby and had no leverage over the Kelly family.

Five million dollars was a lot of money.

Joan took the card and said, "Mr. Gerald Kelly, you're very generous. I'll accept this for Pearl!"

Pearl's eyes lit up at the money. Trying to hide her excitement, she said weakly, "Thank you, Mr. Gerald Kelly."

Then she felt a sharp gaze on her.

Pearl looked at James.

He was watching her with sharp eyes, then glanced at Joan.

Joan didn't notice and kept chatting with Gerald.

James smirked, understanding everything.

Joan, happy with the money, didn't seem like someone who just lost a grandchild.

And Pearl, though she hid it well, clearly showed excitement for a moment!
