Chapter 452 Killing with Praise (2)

Jessica angrily said, "You deserve it! Who told you to stay at home all day, wallowing in self-pity and not going to the company? You handed over everything you had on a silver platter!"

Seeing that she was really angry, James had to reveal a bit to her, "Do you know what 'killing with kindness' means? If they want to dig their own graves, let them do it at The Kelly Corporation!"

Jessica looked at him blankly, her innocent expression was extremely cute.

James suddenly said to Olivia, "Did you record everything I asked you to?"

Olivia quickly handed him the camera and said, "I recorded everything. That woman's tantrums and unreasonable behavior are all on tape!"

James looked through the footage with satisfaction.

Jessica suddenly realized and asked, "So, you were prepared for this? But just having this recording doesn't mean much. They're accusing you of tampering with the will. Have you thought about how to clear your name?"

"I am innocent, why would I need to clear my name?"

After saying this, James went to the study.

Jessica watched his back, pondering over his words.

But she couldn't help but worry about him.

Actually, now she felt that she had long regarded James as family.

Even if they couldn't be lovers, she would protect James as she promised Gerald, not letting anyone hurt him.

Just after Linda left, a lawyer's letter was delivered.

Jessica took it to the study.

James was staring blankly at a childhood photo, which included Gerald and his mom, but George was conspicuously absent.

Jessica could see the signs of cropping.

James had cut George out.

Jessica looked at him with pity, hiding the lawyer's letter behind her back.

That was James's biological father, yet he allowed Linda to treat him this way. For the sake of profit and power, he didn't hesitate to turn against James.

At this moment, she saw two lines of tears streaming down James's face.

In that instant, all of Jessica's defenses crumbled.

She reached out to hug James, pulling his head close to her chest, choking up as she said, "You still have me. James, you still have me."

James closed his eyes tightly, forcing the tears back.

With reddened eyes, he said, "Jessica, I've done many things in my life that I had no choice but to do, and I've never regretted any of them. The only thing I regret is hurting you."

Jessica felt both heartache and sorrow. She shook her head and said, "I will only remember the good things you've done for me."

"Fool, even I don't know what good I've done for you."

James gave a bitter smile, then hugged her back, pulling her onto his lap.

He encircled her from behind, burying his head in her neck, sitting quietly.

Jessica thought of the elegant woman in the photo and cautiously asked, "Have you looked for your mom all these years?"

She could feel the hand around her waist stiffen noticeably.

Then, James said dejectedly, "I have."

"Did you not find her?"

Jessica asked, puzzled.

James responded faintly, "After she left The Kelly Family, it was like she vanished from the face of the earth. There has been no news of her. All these years, I have never stopped looking, but there has been no result."

Hearing this, Jessica didn't ask any more questions.

Because she knew that James must have tried hard to find her, but his mother, unless she didn't want to be found, was deliberately hiding.
