Chapter 327 He Finally Granted Her Freedom Through Divorce (3)
James pulled out the scarf Jessica had knitted for him from the wardrobe and said, "Hey, come here. Help me put this on."
Jessica walked over quietly, stood on her tiptoes, and wrapped the scarf around his neck. Her heart ached, trembling with pain.
James held her hand gently and said, "Let's go. If we wait any longer, the court will be closed."
Once the decision was made, there was no point in stalling. He knew Jessica was desperate to save John and didn't want to see her upset. He wanted to grant her wish, hoping she would understand how much he loved her.
On the way, neither of them spoke. They didn't even drive; they just walked hand in hand for an hour. They both wished the road could be longer. But every road has an end, and theirs had arrived.
The divorce procedures were completed quickly. Jessica looked at the divorce certificate in her hand and laughed bitterly. "I didn't expect the divorce certificate to be white too."
James frowned deeply but said nothing. He silently put the divorce certificate into his pocket and said to her, "Tomorrow, Sean will bring over the property transfer agreement and some notarized assets."
Jessica shook her head and said, "I don't want anything."
"You have to," James looked at her with concern and said, "You need money to protect yourself. Otherwise, you'll be easily deceived! Also, study hard from now on. Stop working at that coffee shop. Understand?"
Jessica's heart twisted in pain. "Goodbye," she said softly. She turned around, and tears flowed down her face like a downpour.
Three days later, the police notified Jessica to handle the procedures for John, saying that the victim had voluntarily withdrawn the lawsuit and had issued a letter of understanding. Jessica immediately rushed to the hospital. She could finally meet John without anyone stopping her.
Jessica leaned gently on John's shoulder, avoiding his wound, and softly said, "Dad, you're gonna be okay. You won't have to go back to that dark place again."
John's body was very weak, but his eyes were exceptionally clear. He asked, "Did you agree to some condition from that woman? Otherwise, why would she let me go so easily?"
Jessica lowered her eyes and said bitterly, "Yes, I divorced James."
"What?" John looked at her in shock and asked, "How could you make such a big decision so rashly? Jessica, did that woman force you?"
Jessica shook her head and said, "Whether she forced me or not, it doesn't matter anymore. Can you promise me not to do something so foolish again? It's not worth it! You don't have to sacrifice yourself for me."
John said through gritted teeth, "No, Jessica, I was framed! I was set up!"
"Dad!" Jessica said helplessly. "I know you did it for me. I won't blame you. But the evidence of you hitting Rose is clear. Let's just not talk about it anymore, okay?"
