Chapter 15 His Bias

James hated her so much that if she fainted in front of him, he would be too happy. How could he possibly hold her?

"Want more?" James said coldly with concern. His deep eyes stared straight at Jessica, reflecting her figure.

Jessica instinctively shook her head and only then noticed that she was in James's arms. She hurriedly tried to sit up but weakly fell back.

She gasped, and he carefully supported her arm. She heard James sigh above her head. She shrank back and habitually apologized, "Sorry."

James said nothing, helping her lie back down. He stood up and sat in front of her. "No need to apologize to me. How are you feeling?"

"I feel fine. Thank you for taking care of me." Jessica lowered her head slightly and noticed that her clothes had been changed. Her ears turned a bit red as she clutched the hem of her clothes. James immediately saw through her thoughts. "The servants changed them."

How could James have changed her clothes?

She was a bit shy just then but felt disappointed now.

James frowned. "You look very disappointed."

"No," Jessica quickly shook her head. James said in a deep voice, "Why bother? Let's get a divorce."

His tone was calm as if he was not discussing with her but informing her.

Jessica, who had just thought their relationship had somewhat improved, turned pale. Her grip on the blanket tightened. Although she had known this day would come, she couldn't suppress the bitterness in her heart when it finally arrived.

Jessica bit her lip hard, afraid that the tears in her eyes would fall. The mist in her eyes made everything blurry. The air seemed to freeze at that moment, and the room was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.

"Divorce is impossible," Jessica finally responded after a moment. Her voice was hoarse and carried a suppressed sob.

If it were because of Rose, she was willing to live in the same house with her.

Even if Rose bullied her, it didn't matter as long as James didn't divorce her. Although she thought this way, her heart felt like it was being gripped tightly by a large hand, and she could hardly breathe in pain.

She was so humble in maintaining this marriage because she knew that once she and James divorced, they would never meet each other again.

"What does this have to do with Rose?" James's eyebrows furrowed, and his voice turned cold when he mentioned Rose. "Jessica."

Jessica looked up at James in confusion; he lost focus for a moment when he saw her slightly red eyes.

"I won't divorce you. I think we're quite a match." Jessica came to her senses, clutching the blanket tightly and not daring to look at James. "Anything else is fine, but divorce is not an option. If you need me to play along in front of Grandpa, I can do that too."

Everyone thought she married James for wealth and status. She wasn't unaware of the nasty words people said behind her back, but only she knew that wasn't the case.

She married James not because of his status but because he was James.

She had liked him since she was a child and gradually fell in love with him. Jessica had never thought of marrying anyone else or loving anyone else.

Marrying James had already satisfied her, and for the past two years, she had been cautious to stay by his side, even though she knew he hated her.
