Chapter 191 James Felt Heartbroken (4)
Without looking back, James walked away.
Rose's face turned red with anger. She shook off Sean and snapped, "Don't touch me!"
Sean's voice oozed sarcasm, "Is your leg okay? If you're really hurt, it would be better for me to take you to the hospital."
Rose caught the mockery and shot back coldly, "I know you've never liked me, Sean. But remember, the day I become Mrs. Kelly is the day you pack your bags and leave."
Sean couldn't stop worrying about Mr. Kelly. What was he getting into by marrying Rose? Was he just asking for trouble?
At the Evans' gate, the servant shut it tight and told Jessica, "Miss Jessica Evans, please go back! Don't make it hard for us."
Jessica shouted, "I want to see my dad! Please tell him I won't sue Grandma anymore. I'm willing to let her go."
As long as John didn't abandon her, she could compromise on anything. She didn't want to be alone in this world.
Just then, Joan came out, looking smug. "I've never seen someone as shameless as you! John doesn't want you to be his daughter anymore. How can you still have the nerve to come here?"
Jessica glared at her. "It's you and Pearl stirring things up, right? Joan, you two have gone too far!"
Joan crossed her arms and smirked, "You caused Pearl to miscarry; isn't that too far? Jessica, there's no place for you in the Evans family anymore. Even if John dotes on you, he won't abandon his mother!"
She laughed harshly. "Oh, and your grandma's on a hunger strike in prison. She only eat once your dad cuts ties with you."
Jessica couldn't believe Louisa hated her that much. But she still wanted to ask John face-to-face if he really didn't want her as his daughter anymore.
The weather had been gloomy, with thunderstorms coming and going.
A servant held an umbrella for Joan while Jessica stood in the rain.
She believed John wouldn't be so heartless. If he saw her in the rain, he would definitely come out.
A servant whispered to Joan, "Mrs. Joan Evans, should we tell Mr. Evans? If something happens to Miss Jessica Evans, Mr. Evans will..."
"Shut up!" Joan snapped. "John doesn't acknowledge her anymore. If she insists on coming here, she deserves to get wet!"
Jessica was already running a high fever, trembling all over, but her eyes were determined. She was going to wait until John came out.
A strong light pierced through the rain, making it hard for Jessica to see. When she could see clearly, James was already walking toward her with an umbrella.
Seeing her drenched, James was furious. "Jessica, are you crazy?" he growled, "Are you trying to kill yourself?"
She looked at him, choking up. "James, help me, please help me. I need to see my dad. I have no home!" Her pale face mixed with rain and tears, and James's heart broke.
He held her, tilting the umbrella entirely toward her. Then, he glared sharply at Joan.
