Chapter 35 A Sweet Night

She felt sore all over as if she had been run over by a truck. Especially in a certain private area, there was a tearing pain.

Scenes from just moments ago flashed through Jessica's mind, and her cheeks instantly turned red.

She bit her lower lip, feeling a mix of emotions.

Her stomach suddenly growled, reminding her of her hunger.

She lifted the blanket, supporting her aching body, and struggled to sit up from the bed.

Her pajamas were in disarray, the neckline wide open, revealing a large area of skin covered with ambiguous marks.

Jessica couldn't help but take a sharp breath, as memories of last night flooded back, making her feel deeply ashamed.

As soon as her legs touched the ground, a sharp pain shot through her, causing her to cry out in pain.

She held onto the edge of the bed, taking her time before limping towards the door.

Every step felt like walking on the edge of a knife, making her gasp in pain.

But she gritted her teeth and persisted, moving step by step until she finally left the room.

What usually took a minute to walk now took her ten minutes.

By the time she got downstairs, Jessica was drenched in sweat, her face pale, and her body trembling slightly.

Perhaps due to her injuries, she woke up later than usual today and felt a bit hungry, so she went straight to the kitchen.

She thought of making something simple to eat.

After taking out the ingredients, Jessica just wanted to make a simple fried egg.

But she underestimated the injury on her arm.

Even cracking an egg was a struggle.

The pain in her arm made her gasp, her face turning pale, and sweat rolling down her forehead.

Standing in front of the stove, she put all her weight on her uninjured leg, having to shift positions now and then.

After a long while, a burnt smell wafted through the air.

"Damn it!"

She hurriedly turned off the stove.

Looking at the burnt egg, Jessica felt a bit frustrated, her delicate eyebrows furrowing slightly.

She sighed and decided to try again, but the result was the same.

Just as she was about to give up on frying eggs and go to the fridge to get something to eat, she didn't notice the things piled in the corner and stumbled.

"Ah!"

She was about to fall.

Jessica instinctively cried out and closed her eyes, waiting for the pain to come.

But the expected pain didn't come. Instead, she felt a warm presence enveloping her.

At the critical moment, James scooped Jessica up, preventing her from falling to the ground.

Feeling herself suddenly lifted, Jessica opened her eyes to see James.

His chiseled profile, sharp features, and perfect jawline all highlighted James's charm.

She realized that he had passed by and saw what happened, so he picked her up.

Even though James had saved her, being so close made Jessica feel a bit uncomfortable, her cheeks slightly red.

"Why are you so careless?" James looked down at Jessica in his arms, his tone carrying a hint of reproach and concern.

Jessica struggled to get out of his arms, "I'm fine, thank you."
