Chapter 523 Returning Your Child to You (1)

"No, Jessica, it's not like that."

James couldn't bear to listen any longer.

He held her tightly in his arms and said, "I never left, and you haven't lost me. I've always been here!"

Jessica struggled to break free from his embrace, her eyes red with disappointment. "You left a long time ago, the first time you mentioned divorce; the first time you slept with Rose; that night when you left without looking back."

James explained helplessly, "That night, there was a reason. I had no other choice. I couldn't just watch her lose her life abroad! If you don't believe me, I can show you the local news from that day!"

"No need."

Jessica shook her head, a bitter smile forming on her lips. "At least this made me see clearly that even if I have a place in your heart, so does Rose."

James was at a loss for words; he couldn't deny it.

After all, Rose was carrying his child. How could he just ignore that?

Any responsible man couldn't ignore his child or the woman who bore his child.

Jessica looked at him with tear-filled eyes, almost pleading, "James, I'm tired. I feel an unprecedented exhaustion! Please, let me go?"

James's heart clenched painfully, and he asked, "What do you mean?"

"Leave you." Jessica sniffled, trying to keep her voice calm. "I'll live well with the baby. Just forget about me, forget about this child!"

James looked at her in disbelief and said, "What are you talking about? Forget you, forget the child? Jessica, even without this child, I wouldn't let you go. Now, it's even more impossible!"

Jessica's gaze was almost desperate. She said each word clearly, "James, you can't stop me. You can't keep me trapped forever!"

James felt as if Jessica might really disappear from his sight one day.

This realization made him both panicked and angry.

He placed his hands on either side of her, his handsome face gradually approaching hers, and said coldly, "Then try it!"

That night, James had Sean arrange for bodyguards.

Two bodyguards were stationed at Jessica's hospital room door 24 hours a day.

Jessica looked at him in disbelief, "What are you doing? Treating me like a prisoner?"

James, while setting the food on the table, said, "No one is treating you like a prisoner. I just want to protect you better."

"I don't need it!"

Jessica said angrily, "Tell them to leave now! I don't like so many people at the door."

James nodded, "Okay, I'll have them stand farther away."

Jessica was too angry to speak. She sat on the bed, not wanting to say another word to him.

"Here, have some porridge."

James sat beside her with a bowl of porridge, gently coaxing, "You haven't eaten anything for two days. If this continues, our baby won't be able to take it."

Jessica remained unmoved.

She really regretted having a child with James now.

Why did she keep this child, cutting off her escape route?

James's tone became firmer as he brought the spoon to her lips, "Open your mouth. Drink this bowl of porridge, and I won't force you anymore."
