Chapter 260 He Chose Jessica Without Hesitation (4)
Jessica shrugged with a flat voice, "She can keep it if she wants. I don't give a damn anymore." Then, she spilled the beans to Kylie about Rose getting someone to rough up her dad.
"Do you think I'd still forgive them after that?" she sneered.
Kylie was fuming. "Oh my God, how can someone be so shameless? And James just lets her get away with it?"
Jessica's eyes darkened, and she nodded.
"This is so messed up! So, what's the deal with you and James now? I saw you getting out of his car at the hospital this morning," Kylie demanded, still seething.
Jessica twisted her lips into a cold smile. "Yeah, it's all for show. I stopped loving him ages ago," She said it coldly, trying to keep her heart from betraying her.
Kylie looked puzzled. "What do you mean, 'all for show'?"
"Since Rose is so full of herself, I'm gonna break her spirit," Jessica said, her voice hard as steel. "Whatever she cares about, I'll make sure she loses it. I can't stand this humiliation, and my dad's beating can't be for nothing."
Kylie suddenly got it and tried to talk her down. "But if you do that, you'll get hurt too. It's not worth it!"
They were so caught up in their conversation, they didn't notice Rose lurking outside the stairwell, her eyes full of malice.
Rose smirked and recorded most of their chat on her phone before slipping away.
That evening, James showed up at the hospital. Rose had been expecting him; she knew he'd come. Sean's failure to send her away left James no choice.
"I heard from Sean you wanted to see me," James said, standing by the window, his tone neutral.
Tears welled up in Rose's eyes. "Are you really gonna send me away without even seeing me one last time? Do you really hate me that much now?" she asked, her voice trembling.
James softened a bit seeing her like that and explained, "No, I just... I didn't want to see you looking so resentful. I know you've been through a lot."
Rose let a few tears fall and choked up, "If you know that, then why are you so cruel to me? I don't want a title or status. I just want to be with you quietly. Even so, why can't your wife tolerate me?"
James stayed calm. "Because a marriage is for two people. Rose, if you go abroad, you can start over, remarry, have kids. I won't use this child to tie you down. I'll make sure you and the kid are taken care of financially, so you don't have to worry."
"You know that's not what I care about. I want your heart!" Rose cried, her hand on her swollen belly. "What am I supposed to tell the child in the future? That their father didn't want them? Is that it?"
James didn't want to argue anymore. He knew the path he had to take, and he'd made his choice. He chose Jessica without a second thought, and that meant he had to be ruthless with Rose.
