Chapter 238 If James Treats You Badly, Don't Endure It

Jessica was lost in thought about her run-in with Rose. Cynthia noticed and asked, "Am I giving you too much work? If you have any issues, let me know. I know you're used to being pampered at home with such a loving brother. It's normal to be a bit spoiled."

Cynthia often brought up James, hoping Jessica would spill details about his job and finances. But Jessica never did.

Feeling frustrated, Cynthia asked bluntly, "Is your brother picking you up today?"

"I don't know," Jessica replied, still distracted by thoughts of Rose's pregnancy.

Cynthia pushed further, "Your brother doesn't have a girlfriend, right? Otherwise, he'd be with his girlfriend instead of picking you up."

Jessica's patience was running out. She stood up and said, "Ms. Wells, it's time to go. I'm leaving." Without waiting for a reply, she walked out.

Cynthia's face showed a hint of disgust. If it weren't for Jessica's handsome brother, she wouldn't bother being so nice. She still hadn't learned anything useful about him, and it was driving her nuts.

Jessica left the hospital, looking lost.

A thin figure blocked her path.

"Jack?" Jessica was shocked by how much weight he'd lost in a month.

Jack gave a bitter smile. "Is it okay for me to come by? I just wanted to say goodbye." Jessica remembered James had sent Jack to Bangkok and felt guilty. "Are you healed?" she asked softly.

"Yeah, I'm young, so I heal fast," Jack replied calmly.

Jessica nodded, trying to smile. "I hope things go well for you. Take care."

"Yeah, I will." Jack's eyes glistened with unshed tears. "You too. I'm really sorry for all the trouble I caused. Please, don't blame me."

"What's done is done. Let's not dwell on it," Jessica said gently, seeing his worn-out look. "I never blamed you."

Jack finally smiled. "I know I'm not good enough for you now, and I can't compare to James. But in Bangkok, I'm going to work on myself. When I come back, you'll see a new Jack."

Hearing James's name made Jessica's heart ache. She blinked, hiding her disappointment. "Do your best, but for yourself, not for me."

Seeing her pale face, Jack felt a mix of heartache and reluctance. He suddenly grabbed her hand. "Jessica, I know you don't believe me now, and you don't like me. But one day, I'll make you sit up and take notice. Promise me, don't let yourself be mistreated. If James treats you badly, don't put up with it."

Before she could respond, a cold, stern voice cut through the air. "You're leaving for Bangkok tomorrow, and you still have time to mess with my wife today?"

James strode over. He grabbed Jessica's arm and pulled her to his side, rough and possessive.
