Chapter 122 Does This Mean We're Even Closer Now?
Seeing Jessica so happy, Kylie decided to keep her concerns to herself and just smiled and nodded.
After their study session, Kylie was ready to head back to the dorm. She asked, "How are you getting home, Jessica? It's already past nine. Are you driving?"
Jessica shook her head. "No, traffic was a nightmare this morning, so I took the subway. But now, I should still be able to catch the last train, though it's going to be a close call."
Kylie reminded her, "Stay safe and text me when you get home."
"Got it, good night!" Jessica waved, carrying a stack of papers, and walked out of the school gate.
From afar, she spotted a familiar figure across the street.
James, with his tall and elegant build, exuded an aloof and noble demeanor that made him stood out even at night.
Jessica's smile widened, and she quickly walked toward him.
James took the stack of papers from her hands. "You're working hard."
"Of course, I have to be responsible for my own life," Jessica said seriously.
She got into the car with a smile and asked, "Why did you come to pick me up tonight? How did you know I was here?"
James replied while driving, "Olivia mentioned you didn't drive to school. It's late, and I was worried about your safety."
Jessica pouted, "So it was Olivia who was worried about my safety."
James glanced at her and awkwardly added, "I was worried too."
Jessica thought about the pink diamond necklace but remembered Lily's reminder. James wanted to surprise her, so she held back, pretending not to know but couldn't hide her happiness.
Seeing her in such a good mood, James wondered if she was in love. Why did she look so lovestruck?
He suddenly asked, "That Leo guy, he hasn't been bothering you, has he?"
Leo? The one who confessed to her on the basketball court last time?
Jessica was taken aback and rolled her eyes. "That was ages ago. If you hadn't mentioned it, I would've forgotten about him."
James nodded. "Good, that's more like it. Don't forget, you're different from them. You're a married woman and can't get too close to other guys, understand?"
Jessica obediently nodded, her heart warming at the realization that James still cared about her. She thought, 'Could it be true, as Lily suggested, that there's still hope for our marriage?'
James looked at Jessica's serene and bright profile and couldn't help but smile a little.
He said, "Tomorrow, we'll go to the old house to have a meal with Grandpa. The day after tomorrow, I have to go abroad for a few days, so I won't be able to visit Grandpa then."
"Okay, sure," Jessica agreed without hesitation.
It had been a long time since they had gone back together. If Gerald saw them returning so lovingly, he would be very happy.
The next day, James took Jessica to the old house.
Jack and Pearl were also there.
Pearl, looking very ladylike, held Jack's arm and greeted, "Jessica, James, you're here. Does this mean we're even closer now?"
