Chapter 352 Move Over; Don't Get So Close to Me (2)
"I've been stuck in bed for two whole days. My legs are going numb," Gerald chuckled. "While I can still move and walk, I can't waste this chance!"
James and Jessica both felt sad, unsure how to help Gerald live longer.
Gerald smiled and said, "I hope I didn't disturb your rest. If so, you can sleep a bit more. It's still early, not even seven yet!"
Jessica blushed, thinking about how she had just woken up in James's arms. She felt super awkward.
But James, unfazed, said, "Grandpa, we slept well last night. We're fully rested."
Gerald nodded, satisfied. "Seeing you both like this makes me very happy and relieved."
James quickly added, "From now on, we'll stay here with you every night."
Jessica was taken aback. She thought, 'Every night? Is James doing this on purpose? Does he want to be close to me every night, taking advantage of me?'
But Gerald looked at Jessica and said, "Wouldn't that be too much trouble for Jessica? How can she rest well here?"
Afraid Gerald might overthink, Jessica immediately said, "I can rest well."
After saying that, she wanted to slap herself. Because this meant that from now on, she would have to sleep on this narrow caretaker bed with James every night.
At this moment, the butler brought breakfast. James helped Gerald to the bed inside, and Jessica began to feed Gerald.
Seeing how meticulously Jessica took care of Gerald, James felt completely at ease.
Noticing the time, James said, "Grandpa, I have a meeting at the company later. I'll go freshen up."
With that, Jessica and Gerald ate in the inner room while James went to the bathroom.
Passing by the caretaker bed in the small living room, he saw Jessica's phone on the bed was flashing and vibrating.
Curiosity drove James to take a closer look. To his surprise, the caller ID read 'Professor Howard.'
James's pupils contracted, and he frowned in displeasure. He thought, 'So, this Professor Howard is Nathan? Jessica is really in the same department as Nathan? They even have each other's phone numbers.'
Thinking of this, James picked up the phone and hung up Nathan's call. Not only that, but he also blocked Nathan's number.
After doing this, he felt a bit better and hurried to the bathroom to freshen up.
After James left, Jessica stayed in the ward to take care of Gerald and talk to Gerald for a while. Feeling sleepy following the chat, Gerald eventually dozed off.
Jessica then started to brood over what happened in the department yesterday.
Nathan had told her to take several days off. But could staying at home and doing nothing prove her innocence?
At this moment, Kylie called. She anxiously asked, "Jessica, what's going on over there? It's all over our department. They're practically using you as a negative example to warn us interns."
Jessica finally understood what it meant for good news to travel slowly while bad news spread quickly.
She sighed and said dejectedly, "It's too complicated to explain in a few words. How about we meet at the cafeteria for lunch and talk then?"
