Chapter 212 I'll Personally Find Someone Who Treats You Well
Jessica looked at James, clearly upset, silently pleading for Jack. She didn't realize she'd already pushed James too far. He'd made up his mind—no turning back.
James, cold as ice, said, "Jack embezzled a lot of money and should face legal consequences, but he's a part of the Kelly family. We can't be too harsh. There's a project in Bangkok next month that needs a leader for two years. Let Jack go there!"
Linda collapsed, crying, "Bangkok? No way! It's too chaotic. Jack can't handle that!"
James, unmoved, shot back, "Think he can handle prison better?"
Jack, understanding Jessica's intervention meant James wouldn't tolerate him anymore, felt a bit happy. At least she cared enough to plead for him.
Panting, Jack mumbled, "Mom, stop. I'll go."
Gerald, surprised by Jack's sudden responsibility, didn't make things harder for him. Instead, he said, "Jessica, James, come with me."
They followed Gerald to the study.
Jessica, head down, admitted, "Mr. Gerald Kelly, I'm sorry. This is my fault. Punish me instead."
James, worried Gerald might actually punish Jessica, quickly said, "Grandpa's not blind. He knows this isn't your fault."
Gerald snorted, "You two think you can fool me? Jessica, I know you. James neglects you, giving Jack an opening."
He sighed, "I thought marrying you into our family would make you happy. Seems I was wrong. If James doesn't treat you right, don't stay. I'll find someone who will."
Jessica, surprised and moved, teared up, "Thank you. You've been so good to me. I can't leave. I need to take care of you."
James frowned, "Why thank him? Are you really planning to let Grandpa find you someone else?"
"I didn't," Jessica pouted, feeling wronged.
Gerald defended her, "You little brat, how dare you threaten Jessica in front of me? How have you even treated her? Even Jack cares more about her than you do."
James, feeling ashamed, replied, "I know how to treat my wife well."
"Good," Gerald nodded, then said to Jessica, "You can go now. I need to talk to James alone."
"Okay," Jessica agreed, gave James a worried look, and left, closing the door.
Gerald then brought up Rose, snapping, "Is that woman taken care of? I don't want any more rumors about the Kelly family after this Jack mess!"
