Chapter 376 Following Nathan in the Future? (2)

Even though they were so close, Jessica felt that she was very far away from James.

The next morning, Jessica unusually did not get up early.

James was already washed and dressed. Seeing that she was still sleeping, he gently shook her and said, "Aren't you going to work today? It's almost seven-thirty."

"No, I'm not going." Jessica rubbed her sleepy eyes, slowly sat up from the bed, and said, "I'd rather spend more time with Grandpa."

Anyway, no one would give her any tasks at work. She felt like an extra person there, and even just sitting there, someone would complain that she was taking up space.

James seemed to realize what she was thinking. He smiled and said, "Maybe if you go early today, there will be a surprise. Be good. Go to work."

Jessica looked at him puzzled. "What surprise?"

James affectionately ruffled her hair and said, "You'll know when you get there."

Jessica asked suspiciously, "Are you hiding something from me?"

James found her silly look particularly adorable.

He didn't tell her in advance but instead took her hand and led her to the bathroom.

He personally squeezed toothpaste for her and filled a cup with water, saying, "Hurry up and wash up. I promise, the things troubling you will soon be over."

Jessica was caught between belief and doubt, but her curiosity was piqued. So, after obediently washing up, she went to the department.

Today she got up late, and by the time she arrived at the department, the morning meeting was about to start.

However, today's morning meeting seemed particularly different.

Besides Nathan standing in the middle, the hospital leaders were also there, including the director and several people from the medical office.

Cynthia stood next to the hospital leaders, her face ashen.

Jessica's heart skipped a beat, regretting that she had come so late. She could only bend down and carefully slip in, standing at the very edge.

Nathan saw her and said, "Jessica, come over here."

Jessica was stunned and quickly said, "No need. I'm sorry. I got up late this morning and didn't know the leaders were coming to inspect the department."

She thought Nathan was going to scold her, so she sensibly admitted her mistake first.

At this moment, the director kindly said, "Oh, so this is Jessica. Come on, Jessica, come over here."

Jessica was stunned, walking over in a state of fear, waiting to be reprimanded.

At eight o'clock, the morning meeting began.

Nathan was the first to speak, "Cynthia, you tell them yourself!"

Cynthia hung her head low, her face flushed with embarrassment, and quietly recounted what had happened that night.

Everyone looked at her in shock, unable to believe that it was her negligence that delayed the patient's treatment.

Cynthia hadn't slept all night, and after weighing the pros and cons, she decided to admit it herself and do as James had suggested.

Even if she couldn't stay in a hospital in Ocean City anymore, she could still find work in another city, which was still better than James exposing her online and she being blacklisted by hospitals nationwide.

After Cynthia finished speaking, she walked over to Jessica and said, "Jessica, it was my fault. I made such a serious medical error and didn't admit it right away, making you take the blame. I feel very ashamed."

Jessica had never expected that Cynthia would have a conscience and tell the truth today.
