Chapter 141 Gerald Called James to Come Back

Gerald stared at her, knowing in his heart that Jessica wasn't the person Louisa described. After all, Jessica was still comforting him.

He sighed, "You should go back with your grandma first."

By evening, Pearl finally came out of surgery. The doctor stressed she had lost a lot of blood and it was serious.

Joan, her face etched with grievance, lamented, "Mr. Gerald Kelly, you can see Pearl's condition. It's unfortunate she can't have a child for the Kelly family."

Gerald sighed and responded, "Pearl has indeed suffered a lot. Our family won't shirk responsibility. We'll make sure she receives the necessary compensation."

Joan felt disheartened. It seemed Pearl had no chance of marrying into the Kelly family.

Once Gerald saw the child was gone, he stopped mentioning Pearl and Jack's marriage, only talking about compensation.

Jack felt relieved, as the issue of the child was resolved. But he still had to act the part.

He put on a sorrowful face and said, "Grandpa, you've been troubled because of me. I'll have the butler take you back to the old house. I'll stay here and wait until Pearl wakes up."

Gerald, feeling his age, was indeed worn out by the day's events.

Before leaving, he told Jack to stay at the hospital and be responsible.

As soon as Gerald got in the car, he called James. He asked, his voice tinged with discontent. "Where are you? Don't tell me you're working abroad! Did you go with that woman?"

James paused, "Grandpa, she's sick. I brought her abroad for treatment."

"Don't give me that nonsense. She's just pretending to be sick," Gerald snapped angrily. "You're out there with her, neglecting your family. Do you know how much your wife has suffered from false accusations?"

James's tone grew tense, "What do you mean? What happened to Jessica?"

Gerald explained everything that had happened.

James immediately said, "Impossible. Jessica wouldn't do that."

He remembered Jessica always said her duty was to save lives. He believed his wife wouldn't harm anyone.

Gerald sighed, "How could I not believe it? But I don't know why the Evans family would go to such lengths to slander her. They made her out to be a demon!"

"And now? How is she?" James asked, worried.

Gerald replied, "She was taken back by Mrs. Louisa Evans. I doubt Mrs. Louisa Evans or Pearl will let this go easily. Even though I represent the Kelly family, my connection with Jessica is minimal, so it's hard for me to interfere."

"I understand, Grandpa. I'll come back right away," James said, understanding Gerald's point.

As Jessica's husband, even if the Evans family believed she caused Pearl's miscarriage, he had a reason to take her back.

After the call, James asked Sean to book a return flight.

Rose stood at the door and cautiously asked, "James, are we going back?"
