Chapter 249 They Have a Serious Falling Out

To keep Ambrose calm, Rose shifted gears, wrapping herself around him with practiced tenderness, her curvy body pressing against his. "Ambrose, just hang in there a bit longer. I promise, our child will get the Kelly family's assets," she purred, her words as smooth as her touch.

She expertly coaxed him to take what he wanted. The room quieted and the bed stopped creaking only after midnight.

Ambrose, always the strategist, never lingered. He handled his business with almost surgical precision, ensuring no woman ever stayed the whole night. After their encounter, he left, satisfaction evident in every step. Rose waited until the door clicked shut behind him, then let her practiced facade drop. Her eyes darkened with determination and a hint of dread. She had to find a way out of Ambrose's grip and, most importantly, ensure her child didn't become a pawn in his plan to seize control. The stakes were too high, and the risk too great. After a moment to collect herself, Rose dressed quickly and left the Skyline Club.

The next morning, she made a delicate breakfast and headed to the Kelly Corporation. She wanted to know if Jessica and James had a complete falling out after Jessica witnessed him halting her surgery the previous day.

When she reached James' office door, she overheard several female secretaries gossiping in the secretary's office.

"What's up with Mr. Kelly? Why hasn't he gone home and stayed in the office these past few nights?" one secretary whispered.

"Maybe his girlfriend kicked him out? Maybe he's staying in the office to prove his innocence and avoid other women," another guessed.

"That could be it! We haven't seen Miss Morris around lately. Looks like there's trouble between her and Mr. Kelly. But he must really care for her to sleep in the office willingly," one of the secretaries sighed enviously.

The secretaries were so engrossed in their gossip that they didn't notice Rose until she cleared her throat by the doorway. Their eyes widened in surprise.

"Miss Morris, you're here! We were just talking about you. Speak of the devil, and she appears!"

The secretaries, who had long considered Rose as the future Mrs. Kelly, immediately greeted her with eager smiles and enthusiastic tones.

With a warm, graceful smile, Rose asked, "Is James in?"

"He is," one of the secretaries replied, seizing the chance to flatter her. "Mr. Kelly has been sleeping in the office these past few days. Miss Morris, you really have a way with him."

Rose basked in the compliment, inwardly savoring the satisfaction. James and Jessica had indeed had a serious falling out. Was he really sleeping in the office? Was Jessica pushing him further away? The idea left her feeling quite pleased.

Feigning modesty, she responded with a shy smile, "Oh, don't tease me."

With that, she was led into James' office by the secretary.

James looked worn out from the recent events and sleepless nights exacerbated by his arguments with Jessica. His office, complete with a rest area and bathroom, couldn't fully mask the toll the turmoil had taken on him.

"What are you doing here?" James glanced at her and said, "I have a meeting soon and can't take care of you. I'll have Sean take you back."

Rose placed the breakfast she had prepared on the table and said softly, "I was just worried you'd start working without breakfast, which isn't good for your stomach. I'll leave soon; I have students waiting for me at the dance studio."

James' gaze at the breakfast broke through his fatigue and resistance. His tone softened, revealing a hint of concern. "Since you're pregnant, maybe you should take a break from the dance studio. You don't want to overexert yourself."

Rose's heart fluttered at his concern, though her expression remained gentle and composed. "It's okay. Just hearing you say that is enough for me."
