Chapter 493 You Insisted on Me Bringing You to Bed (3)
Jacob, feeling a tightness in his chest from anger, said furiously, "You're a lawyer, I can't out-argue you. But don't tell me you like Lily. You planned to break us up from the start!"
"Mr. Diaz, did you get run over by a car?" Michael seemed amused, but his tone was cold, "Was it me who broke you and Lily up? How many women did you hook up with during your three years abroad? Your breakup with Lily was your own choice!"
With that, Michael didn't want to argue any further.
As he was leaving, Jacob said hatefully, "Lawyer Watson, if Lily knew you were the one who ruined her family, she would never forgive you!"
Michael's gaze turned icy, his eyes piercing like knives, "Mr. Diaz, people should cherish what they have now. Speak less, and you might gain more. Otherwise, you might end up like Adam, got it?"
Jacob's heart pounded with fear, rendering him speechless.
He knew very well that Michael was not just a lawyer; his connections and influence were beyond his imagination.
But if he didn't want Lily anymore, why did Michael keep her by his side?
Seeing Lily, who was once infatuated with him, now holding Michael's arm in public, Jacob felt a wave of disgust.
After the banquet, Lily followed Michael out of the venue.
It was freezing outside, and Lily's thin dress was no match for the biting cold.
Michael took off his coat and tossed it to her, heading straight for the car.
Lily was slightly taken aback but wrapped his large coat around herself.
Michael's unique scent of tobacco and the warmth of his coat enveloped her.
A strange, indescribable feeling arose in Lily's heart.
Once in the car, Michael didn't seem to have any intention of making love to her tonight. He asked rather gentlemanly, "Where to? I'll take you."
At this moment, Lily was homeless; how could she know where to go?
"I can go back on my own, no need to trouble Lawyer Watson."
She intended to return the coat to him before getting out of the car.
But she was just too cold.
So, she couldn't bring herself to return the coat, and opened the car door.
Michael reminded her, "Your pile of luggage is still in my car. Take it with you."
Lily felt extremely embarrassed. With all that luggage, where could she go at this late hour?
Finally, she said cautiously, "Lawyer Watson, can I stay at your place for a few days? Once I get my paycheck, I'll move out."
Michael suddenly realized she was homeless.
But he too had experienced homelessness before; who cared then?
When she was Miss Evans at The Stewart family, he and his mother had lived under someone else's roof, and only he remembered those difficult times.
Michael laughed mockingly and said, "Do you really think I'm your boyfriend? Just because we slept together once, you want me to take you in?"
Faced with his blatant humiliation, Lily's face turned red with embarrassment.
She whispered, "I'm sorry, I had no choice at the dress shop today. I know my place, and I won't cause any trouble for Lawyer Watson. Just now, I was being presumptuous."
After saying that, she closed the car door for him, took out her luggage, and walked alone on the street.
