Chapter 209 Thank Me Properly Tonight

John suddenly got serious and said, "I've been trying to call her about the divorce, but her phone's always off. It's like Joan and Pearl vanished."

Jessica's heart skipped a beat, and she glanced upstairs. She pondered, 'Could it be James?' She quickly dismissed the thought.

John muttered, "Those two are so sneaky, they probably won't get into trouble."

Remembering more of Pearl's words from that chaotic day, John asked quietly, "Jessica, did Pearl say James had another woman? I saw him being nice to you. What's going on with you two? Don't let yourself be mistreated. Tell me if anything's wrong. I'd do anything to protect you."

"Dad, it's all in the past," Jessica replied, trying to sound calm. She didn't want to dig up old wounds, especially now that things with James were getting better. Thinking about Rose would only ruin her mood and worry John.

After a few more heartfelt words, John and Louisa left the Kelly villa.

Just then, Olivia came over, smiling, "Mrs. Kelly, dinner's ready. Should I call Mr. Kelly?"

"I'll go," Jessica said, heading to the study to find James. He stood up from his desk, looking gentle, and asked, "Did your dad leave? You two made up, right?"

Jessica nodded, grateful, "James, thank you."

"Silly girl, what are you thanking me for?" He chuckled, pulling her into a hug.

Jessica looked up and whispered, "Thank you for releasing my grandma, clearing my name, and helping me reconcile with my dad."

"So, how do you plan to thank me?" James lowered his head, brushing his nose against hers, his tone suggestive.

Jessica got nervous and quickly changed the subject, "Olivia asked me to call you for dinner."

"Well, we need to replenish some energy, huh?" He said, making her blush and her heart race.

Jessica blushed and quickly ran out.

Just then, James's phone rang. It was a call from the old house.

The butler said anxiously, "Mr. James Kelly, you need to bring Mrs. Kelly to the old house immediately. Mr. Gerald Kelly is furious about Mr. Jack Kelly, and Mr. Jack Kelly's mother is blaming everything on Mrs. Kelly."

Worried about Gerald's health, James replied, "Alright, I'll bring her over right now."

He hurried downstairs and pulled Jessica, who was about to have dinner, out the door.

On the way, James explained the situation to Jessica.

Jessica asked in disbelief, "What did you say? The bracelet Jack gave me was bought with embezzled funds? Does Mr. Gerald Kelly know?"

James frowned, speeding up, and responded calmly, "Jack was secretive about it. Besides me, no one should know. Grandpa is probably angry because he found out about the incident at the ball."

Jessica nervously clutched her clothes and asked softly, "Will Mr. Gerald Kelly misunderstand me?"

James glanced at her, still a bit upset, "Who knows? At the ball, you were dancing so enthusiastically with him. Weren't you afraid of misunderstandings then?"

Jessica got angry and retorted, "You are one to talk! You were all lovey-dovey with Rose. If I didn't have a dance partner, wouldn't that be embarrassing?"
