Chapter 372 Finally Clearing Her Name (2)
After venting her frustration, Cynthia felt much better. She tidied up her things and leisurely left work.
Jessica also left the office not long after.
However, when she got downstairs, she saw Cynthia getting into James's car.
She was startled and quickly tried to catch up. But how could someone on foot be faster than a car?
Within seconds, James's car had left her far behind.
Jessica was sure she hadn't seen wrong; that license plate was definitely James's, and the car was one he often drove.
Jessica's heart pounded with anxiety, her hands clenched tightly as she stared in the direction the car had gone. Countless questions flooded her mind. She thought, 'Why was Cynthia getting into James's car? When did they meet? Are they already that close? James and I are already divorced; he can be with whoever he wants. What does it have to do with me?'
Jessica felt inexplicably upset, yet she also felt her distress was completely unreasonable.
At the coffee shop.
James sat across from Cynthia, elegantly stirring the coffee in front of him.
Cynthia's face was slightly flushed; she hadn't expected James to suddenly invite her for coffee. Was this considered a date?
She deliberately tucked her hair behind her ear and smiled slightly, saying, "Mr. Kelly, I didn't expect you to remember me."
"Of course, I remember you." James's handsome face lifted, but his eyes and brows were cold and sharp as he said word by word, "How could I forget the person who framed my wife?"
Cynthia was so startled she nearly fell off her chair.
She thought she had misheard and incredulously confirmed, "Who did you say?"
James repeated firmly, "Jessica, she is my wife."
Cynthia shook her head vigorously and said, "That's impossible! Jessica is clearly..."
James's eyes narrowed slightly, revealing a hint of danger. "Clearly what?"
Cynthia took a deep breath, but facing James's sharp and intimidating gaze, she didn't dare say anything.
She thought, 'Men nowadays are like this; even if they keep a mistress, they won't admit it openly. I just can't believe that Jessica, a mere girl, can be James's wife.'
Cynthia spoke softly, "Mr. Kelly, I don't know why you asked me out today. Is there something you need?"
James calmly asked in return, "What? Ms. Wells, have you already forgotten what you did? Do I need to remind you?"
Cynthia nervously swallowed and forced herself to stay calm, saying, "I really don't understand what you mean. Even the hospital knows I was implicated and didn't punish me. Even if you use your power and money to suppress me, I won't admit to something I didn't do."
James slowly clapped his hands and sneered, "Well, Ms. Wells, if I didn't have evidence, I might have been moved by your words."
"So, you have evidence?" Cynthia raised her chin confidently and said, "Does Jessica simply saying she's innocent count as evidence now? Mr. Kelly, I know your relationship with Jessica is special. But to help her get off the hook, forcing me to admit to something I didn't do is a bit too much, isn't it?"
James spoke coldly, "Do you remember the little kid in bed 16 in your department?"
