Chapter 190 James Felt Heartbroken (3)
This realization made him feel a bit better.
Seeing the fool in front of him eyeing Jessica, James stopped worrying.
His eyes were cold, a slight sneer on his lips. He asked, "This bracelet, you bought it from Kennedy, right? Must've cost over two million dollars. I'm afraid that neither Dad nor your mom would provide you with this sum of money. So, where'd you get it?"
"I..." Jack stammered, flustered. "I borrowed it."
James nodded and snapped, "You better have. I've frozen the company's finances and will be checking the accounts soon."
Jack got nervous, his attitude softening. He said quietly, "James, I'll pay it back soon. For the sake of us being brothers, don't push me to the edge."
By saying this, he indirectly admitted to embezzling company funds.
James, unfazed, looked at him with contempt and mocked, "Using company funds to buy gifts to chase women, that's really something! Do you think Jessica would accept you if she knew? This gift is bought with stolen money. Would she even dare to wear it?"
"Don't tell Jessica, I..." Jack hesitated, then decided, "As long as you don't tell Jessica, I'll resign and leave Kelly Corporation. I won't drag you into this with Grandpa. It's all my fault, and I'll take the punishment myself!"
A flicker of surprise crossed James's face. He hadn't expected Jack to go to such lengths for Jessica.
Afraid James wouldn't agree, Jack pleaded, "Please, James. I haven't even confessed my feelings to Jessica, and I don't think I'll ever get the chance."
James's eyes narrowed, a shadow passing over his face. Even though there seemed to be nothing between Jack and Jessica, the thought of another man yearning for his wife sparked possessive jealousy.
His gaze cold, James said, "Listen clearly, don't ever bother Jessica again. This is your last chance! Otherwise, you know the consequences."
Jack swallowed hard and nodded. "Thank you." He took a deep breath. "I'll go write my resignation letter."
Despite his impending departure, Jack felt regret, hoping Jessica would never learn of his disgraceful actions. He didn't want her to see him as a loser.
As soon as Jack left, Sean rushed in.
"Why are you so frantic?" James asked, annoyed.
Sean reported nervously, "The hospital just called. Mrs. Kelly ran away. She saw the news about John cutting ties with her!"
"Damn it!" James immediately rushed out.
At the company entrance, he bumped into Rose.
"Ah!" Rose fell and said, "James, what happened? Why are you in such a hurry?"
James helped her up quickly. "I have something urgent. No time to explain. Go home first."
Rose instinctively thought of Jessica. The only woman who could make James so anxious was probably her. She rubbed her knee and said, "But James, my leg hurts. Can you take a look?"
Just then, Sean came over. James handed Rose to Sean and instructed, "Take her to the hospital."
