Chapter 268 I Want to Avoid Any Misunderstandings
James shot her a frosty look and said, "From now on, don't come to Kelly Corporation looking for me. I don't want any more drama."
Rose's heart clenched. She couldn't wrap her head around why James was still so cold, especially when he knew Jessica was just playing him.
"As long as we're clean, what can people say?" Rose tried to play it cool. "I don't care what folks think. I just want to love you, no strings attached."
James turned around, giving her a once-over. "You seem alright now. When are you planning to head abroad? I'll have Sean book the ticket."
Rose's jaw dropped. She yelled, "You still want to ship me off? James, you know she doesn't love you. The only one who truly loves you is me. Why hurt someone who loves you with all her heart?"
"Whether she loves me or not, I know and can feel it," James replied, his voice steady, each word deliberate. "You don't need to keep reminding me! I know what I'm doing."
Tears streaming down her face, Rose shouted, "James, you're the most heartless man I've ever met!" With that, she bolted from the president’s office, her sobs echoing down the hall.
James pinched the bridge of his nose and relaxed slightly. He'd rather have Rose hate him and have no more illusions about him than let her keep wasting her time on him.
After Rose left, her face twisted with rage. She now harbored a fierce hatred for Jessica. How was it that both of them had deceived James, but he chose to forgive Jessica and be harsh with her? The recording she had painstakingly kept turned out to be useless!
Furious, she stormed off to the Skyline Club to find Ambrose for help. Unexpectedly, Ambrose mocked her, "I used to think you were so important to James, but now it seems that's not the case."
Ambrose curled his lips into a smile and said, "Since he doesn't want you, you can stay with me. After all, you're carrying my child. I won't mistreat you and the baby."
Rose was stunned, not wanting to stay with the moody and perverse Ambrose. "Don't you want the Kelly family anymore? Didn't you approach me to cooperate in order to get to the Kelly family?" she challenged, looking for an escape.
Ambrose reached out and stroked her face, saying, "But now, I want you more. I want your body and your heart to belong to me."
Rose sneered and said, "Don't joke around. In this Skyline Club, almost all the women are yours. If I stay with you, will you marry me? Will you break off with them?"
Ambrose snorted coldly, his smile disappearing completely, "You don't have that kind of leverage. As for the Kelly family, do you think I'd be stupid enough to put all my hopes on one woman?"
Rose realized she was just another of Ambrose's many pawns. "Why do you have to go after the Kelly family? Do you hate the Kelly family or James?" she asked cautiously.
Ambrose's eyes turned cold, and he said eerily, "People who know too much don't live long."
Rose's heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively fell silent.
Ambrose said, "Since you want to sever ties with James, do it cleanly. And remember, the baby you're carrying is my first child. Make sure you give birth to it."
