Chapter 303 Deliberately Making Things Difficult for Her (1)

"Isn't she?" Cynthia asked, staring at Pearl like she was trying to solve a puzzle.

Pearl's eyes lit up with a sneaky glint. She smirked and said, "No way! Jessica might be good at a lot of things, but she's a total liar. You've been played, girl!"

"What?" Cynthia blinked, totally lost. "What did Jessica lie to me about?"

Pearl leaned in, dropping the bomb. "She's not James' sister. She's just his side chick! No way she'd admit to that, right?"

Cynthia's jaw dropped. "Are you serious?"

Pearl just gave a knowing smile, and Cynthia felt a wave of panic. But mostly, she felt rage.

She'd always had a weird feeling about Jessica, but the only reason she hadn't confronted her earlier was that she believed Jessica was James' sister.

But now? Jessica had been playing her all along. She'd even tried to set her up with James just to watch her crash and burn.

Furious, Cynthia swore that from now on, Jessica could forget about using James' name to boss her around!

Jessica was just a college girl with a sugar daddy. Who did she think she was?

Cynthia stormed back to the office, looking for Jessica but not finding her.

She grabbed an intern and snapped, "Where's Jessica? It's work time, where'd she run off to?"

The intern looked like a deer in headlights. Cynthia usually treated Jessica well, so this was a shock.

"She said she had something to do and would be back soon," the intern stammered.

Cynthia sneered, "She's getting way too much! Usually, I'm easy on her, and now she doesn't even show up at work time. Fine, I'll wait right here and see when she decides to come back!"

Meanwhile, Jessica was off finding Kylie to ask about part-time jobs.

"What? You want a part-time job?" Kylie asked, eyes wide. "With your rich family and loaded boyfriend, why do you need a job? Trying to 'experience life' or something?"

Jessica sighed, "There's trouble at home. I can't ask my family for money anymore. And I can't ask James either."

"What happened between you two?" Kylie asked, concerned. "Is it about that homewrecker? Did you guys fight?"

Jessica shook her head. "It's a long story. I just need to make my own money now. Can you help me out without digging too deep?"

"Okay, I know a bunch of places hiring," Kylie said.

Then she hesitated. "Are you sure about this? It's gonna be tough. You'll be interning, working part-time, and prepping for grad exams. Can you handle it?"

Jessica nodded, determined. "If others can do it, so can I!"

"Alright, wait for my news. The weekend's coming up, I'll take you to see where I work part-time," Kylie said.

Just then, Jessica's phone rang.

She picked up, and it was the academic office.

A stern voice said, "Is this Jessica? Your supervising teacher from the cardiothoracic department reported you were AWOL. Come to the academic office immediately."
