Chapter 44 Did Jessica Cheat?

Rose snapped, "Enough! Didn't I say I don't care anymore? Everyone, stay inside and keep quiet. I'll handle this!"

After hanging up, Rose felt even more frustrated.

She talked big, but what could she really do? How could she get Jessica and James to divorce without getting herself tangled up?

Feeling helpless, she called Jessica.

Jessica had just finished school when she got Rose's call. She instinctively stopped in her tracks.

"Jessica, don't you want to get your friend out?" Rose's voice was cold. "You haven't done a single thing you promised me!"

Jessica shot back, "As you can see, many professors have already cleared my name online. Your plan to ruin my reputation isn't working."

"And the divorce?" Rose pressed. "What's the point of clinging to a man who doesn't love you? James has been with me these past few days, always complaining about how you keep bugging him. Making a man despise you like this, there's no point in holding on."

Jessica's heart tightened. Even though she was in immense pain, she didn't want to lose her dignity in front of Rose.

She calmly replied, "If you can make him divorce me, I would be very grateful!"

To Rose, this sounded like pure provocation!

Rose hissed, "Jessica! Just wait for your friend to end up in jail! I'll make you feel guilty for the rest of your life!"

After hanging up, Jessica covered her forehead and took a deep breath.

She kept thinking about Lily's situation, walking forward in a daze.

Suddenly, the screeching sound of a black Mercedes braking snapped her back to reality.

Jessica was startled, clutching her chest, almost getting hit.

A handsome and elegant man got out of the car and asked nervously, "Are you okay?"

Jessica shook her head and apologized, "I'm fine. Your car didn't hit me. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention and almost ran a red light."

The man paused and tentatively asked, "Are you Jessica?"

Jessica exclaimed in surprise, "Professor Howard? Is it really you?"

Nathan smiled slightly, "I knew I wasn't mistaken. You are the hero my sister captured on video, Jessica."

Jessica blushed and responded gratefully, "You're too kind. If it weren't for you clarifying things for me, how could I be a hero? Besides, treating and saving people is our duty as medical students. It doesn't make us heroes."

Nathan's gaze grew more appreciative.

He said gently, "I also graduated from Ocean City University and now teach there. You're both my student and my junior. Helping you is my duty."

He looked at the sky and invited, "The weather has been gloomy lately. It looks like it's going to rain soon. Where are you headed? I'll give you a ride."

Jessica quickly said, "There's no need to trouble you; I'm just going to the subway station."

If it weren't for the traffic in Ocean City this morning, she would have driven herself.

But Nathan had already opened the passenger door and said, "Get in. The subway station is crowded at this time."

Jessica didn't refuse any further and got into his car, giving him her home address.

Not far away, behind the window of a silver Bentley, was James with a sullen face.

If he was correct, that man was Nathan.

Jessica was smiling so brightly while talking to Nathan!

When had she ever smiled at him like that?

No wonder Nathan helped Jessica clear her name; they seemed so familiar with each other.

James wondered, 'Could they have known each other for a long time? Or is Nathan the man Jessica has an affair with?'
