Chapter 103 Marry Her And Take Responsibility
Linda said, "This woman got a kid and is trying to frame Jack. We should call the cops and charge her with fraud!"
Gerald sighed, feeling the situation was tough. He looked at Jessica, who had been quiet, and asked, "Jessica, what do you think? She's your sister, after all."
Pearl hadn't expected Gerald to ask Jessica. Worried Jessica might cause trouble, she quickly grabbed Jessica's hand and said, "Jessica, you know me. Do I seem like someone with a messy private life? Our family has strict rules. How could I frame someone?"
Jessica didn't want to expose Pearl in front of everyone but knew Pearl was playing the victim. Jessica wasn't easily fooled and had no weaknesses that Pearl could exploit. She calmly pulled her hand away and distanced herself.
She told Gerald, "Sorry, Mr. Kelly, I don't know much about this. And I don't know Pearl well either."
Jessica's words hinted to Gerald that Pearl wasn't trustworthy and their relationship was strained.
Gerald's attitude toward Pearl turned suspicious.
Pearl hadn't expected Jessica to give her no support in the Kelly family. She wanted to tear Jessica apart but she thought, 'No rush. Once I marry into the Kelly family, Jessica will get what she deserves!'
Jack looked gratefully at Jessica. He thought, 'Was Jessica's recent comment actually meant to give him a hand?'
This thought made him feel moved.
Linda jumped in, "Just look at what you said; even Jessica isn't buying it. You're a habitual liar, always spouting nonsense!"
Pearl calmly replied, "Let's wait for the child to be born and do a DNA test. I've only been with Jack, so the child can only be his."
Pearl's confidence made Linda unsure, and her face turned ugly. How could she let this woman give birth to a child? Jack was supposed to marry someone from a prestigious family, not someone like Pearl.
Gerald saw it too. If Pearl had no solid evidence, she wouldn't have come alone to make a fuss. The child was likely Jack's!
Seeing Jack's guilty look, Gerald felt humiliated. He said to Jack, "If this child is yours, you must marry her and take responsibility! You have to face the consequences; that's what it means to be part of the Kelly family."
Jack's face changed, and he quickly said, "Mr. Kelly, this won't do! She's trying to defraud me. I..."
Gerald cut him off, "Shut up! No more excuses. I'm tired. Everyone leaves! And take Miss Pearl Evans home."
Gerald was helped upstairs by the butler.
Pearl looked triumphant as she provocatively glanced at Jack and Linda.
