Chapter 588 Battle with the Two-Faced (2)
Rose still hadn't shaken off the shock. Forcing a smile, she said, "I'm fine, just really ticked off at that quack doctor!"
Even though she said that, her heart was still racing with anxiety.
She could recognize Jessica anywhere, even if she was turned to ashes.
Isaac whispered, "Mom, don't be mad. I think the doctor wasn't entirely wrong. We did cut in line, and that was our fault."
Rose suddenly flared up and yelled, "Whose side are you on? Who are you defending?"
Isaac was startled by her outburst, his eyes welling up.
Rose softened her tone and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you. I just want you to get better quickly."
"I know."
Even though Isaac was only five, he was mature for his age and very composed.
He understood that Rose was doing all this for him. He shouldn't make things worse and upset her more.
Rose sighed and told the driver, "Take Isaac home first."
Isaac asked, puzzled, "What about you? Aren't you coming with us?"
"I have some things to take care of. You go home first."
Rose coaxed him patiently, "Isaac, don't tell Dad about what happened today, okay? He'll get mad and blame me. You don't want to see Mom and Dad fight, do you?"
Isaac quickly shook his head, "No, I don't. I won't say anything."
Rose kissed his cheek, "That's my good boy. Go on, remember to take your medicine when you get home. I'll be back soon."
With that, the driver took Isaac home from the hospital.
At 12:30 PM, Jessica finished seeing her last patient and let out a relieved sigh.
The nurse, while tidying up the exam room, said, "Jessica, you're so dedicated. You finished your appointments by noon but still took on five more patients."
Jessica smiled, "They came from out of town, traveling so far just to see a doctor. It's not easy for them. If I can see one more patient, I will. Compared to them, I'm much luckier."
The nurse couldn't help but say, "Honestly, you even stayed late for these regular patients. Why not just see the patient the boss mentioned? That woman looked loaded. Aren't you afraid of making enemies?"
Jessica chuckled, "To me, patients are prioritized by urgency, not status. That woman crossed the line. I don't care who sent her, I won't see her. If the boss isn't happy, he can see her himself if he's so capable."
The nurse laughed, "Jessica, you're the most unique and principled doctor I've ever met. Honestly, I can't stand that woman either. Watching you handle her today was pretty satisfying."
Jessica took off her lab coat and said, "Alright, you've worked hard this morning too. Head home early. Bye!" With that, Jessica left the exam room.
As soon as she entered the parking garage, she saw a figure at the entrance. It was Rose, the woman who caused a scene earlier.
Jessica walked past her without a word, treating her as if she were invisible.
"Jessica!"
Rose called out her name through gritted teeth.
