Chapter 223 Love Makes People Do Crazy Things
Kylie sighed, "Seriously, do you think Mr. Kelly would actually wear this if you finished it?"
Jessica paused, then got determined. "I'll just have to make it perfect, then."
"Love makes people do crazy things," Kylie muttered, shaking her head.
Just then, they heard footsteps.
Jessica panicked. "Oh no, is James back? Why now?" She quickly shoved the yarn and needles into the closet.
Kylie started pacing. "I told you I shouldn't come, but you insisted!"
The door creaked open, and there was James, looking surprised. He'd come back out of curiosity since Jessica hadn't let him stay home yesterday. He didn't expect to find her with a classmate.
James thought, 'What's the big deal? What was there to hide from me?'
Jessica pouted, "Weren't you at the office?"
James hugged her, ignoring Kylie. "Came back to see what you were up to. Why should I avoid it if you have a friend over?"
Jessica playfully glared at him. "You're too intimidating; my friends are scared of you!"
Kylie, clearly nervous, muttered, "Hi, Mr. Kelly, I'll leave now."
She didn't want to stay around someone as imposing as James. He was only nice to Jessica and cold to everyone else.
But just as she was about to leave, both Jessica and James called out to her.
James said calmly, "Since you're Jessica's friend, stay for a meal. Keep her company."
Kylie looked shocked. Who knew James could be so different when doting on his wife?
James, having said his piece, went to the study to work.
Jessica locked the bedroom door and resumed her knitting lesson with Kylie. They chatted and laughed as they worked on the scarf.
Jessica started talking about her encounter with Leo the previous night.
Kylie, wide-eyed, exclaimed, "How could he act like that? I used to admire him and watched his games all the time."
Jessica chuckled, "Fans like you probably made him overly confident and arrogant."
Kylie folded her arms, a bit annoyed. "Alright, I get it! No one compares to Mr. Kelly in your eyes now."
She sighed, feeling a bit let down about her idol. "I mean, it's not wrong for Leo to like you. Sure, he doesn't match up to Mr. Kelly, but he's young and might have potential."
Jessica paused, then asked, "What if he pursued you? Would you accept?"
Kylie's eyes lit up with daydreams. "Well, I wouldn't reject him as directly as you did. But with so many girls chasing after Leo, why would he notice me?"
