Chapter 241 Make Her Abort the Child (1)
Jessica felt shaken, her voice barely a whisper as she asked, "When you say 'handle it,' do you mean having Rose abort the child?"
"Yes," James replied calmly. "I can't give her a future. Having this child would be unfair to both of them." He gently stroked her hair, a stark contrast to his words. "Stop crying. Trust me this once, okay?"
Jessica's heart ached for the unborn child, but a part of her still hoped for her own happiness. She wanted to believe James wasn't just playing with her, that he was serious this time.
"Okay," she said softly, looking up at him with tear-streaked cheeks. "How long will it take? How long until you can cut ties with Rose?"
"By the end of this month," James promised. He knew Rose would be three months pregnant by then, making the procedure easier and less harmful.
Jessica hesitated, her voice trembling. "I'll trust you one more time. But if this isn't resolved, we're getting a divorce. I mean it."
James' face hardened. "Don't mention divorce again. No matter what, I won't agree to it. So, give up on that idea."
Determined, Jessica started packing. James quickly grabbed her arm, frowning. "What are you doing? It's the middle of the night. Are you leaving again?"
Her gaze was steady. "I'll come back when you've handled things with Rose. I can't respect myself if I stay knowing you have an illegitimate child."
James' eyes darkened. He was silent for a long time before speaking in a low, controlled tone. "You just don't want to see me, right? Fine, I won't come back until I've dealt with Rose. You stay, I'll leave."
Jessica was stunned. She hadn't expected him to humble himself like this. As he spoke, James grabbed his coat.
Before leaving, he gently reminded her, "Take care of yourself. Call me if you need anything. I'll come back once I've handled this."
Jessica's eyes were wet as she sat on the bed, gazing at the empty room, filled with coldness and loneliness.
James drove aimlessly through the streets, feeling like a wanderer with no home to return to.
His phone rang. It was Rose.
Suppressing his anger, he answered. Rose's soft voice came through, "James, I got the results from my check-up. It's just normal pregnancy symptoms. Luckily, it was a false alarm. I wanted to let you know we're okay."
James snorted coldly, "I was just about to come see you."
Rose, oblivious to his ire, was delighted. "I'll wait for you at home then," she chirped before hanging up.
James arrived at Rose's apartment with a stern face, warning others to keep away.
Rose opened the door cautiously. "James, are you in a bad mood?"
His cold eyes locked onto hers. "Why did you go to see Jessica?" he demanded. "Did I permit you to see her?"
