Chapter 338 Nathan Helped Her Out (5)
Cynthia fumed, thinking, 'Jessica's really pushing her luck, messing around with Nathan like that.'
'Does Nathan even know she's James' side piece?' she wondered. 'All she does is seducing men!'
Meanwhile, over at the Evans' place, Jessica was enjoying a rare chill moment. She woke up naturally, stretched out, and grabbed her phone to scroll through Facebook. Suddenly, she spotted a post from Kylie, made early yesterday: [Happy Birthday to me.]
Looked like Kylie was feeling pretty lonely.
Jessica shot up. She'd gotten a pair of gloves from Kylie yesterday but had no clue it was her birthday. She hadn't even gotten her a gift!
Feeling super guilty, Jessica quickly got out of bed, washed up, and got ready to head out.
"Jessica, where are you off to?" John asked, curious. "Didn't you say you had the day off?"
Jessica smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I do. Just wanna go out for a bit."
"Good idea. You should get out and relax," John said, pulling out his phone and transferring $3,000 to her. "Since you came back, I haven't given you any allowance. Not sure if you have enough cash. Take this. If you need more, just ask."
Jessica felt a bit embarrassed. "Dad, you still treat me like a kid! But, honestly, the money's perfect timing."
She was running low on funds. Without John's help, she wouldn't know how to get a gift for Kylie. Hugging him and giving him a kiss, Jessica hurried out.
John watched her leave with a loving smile.
Just then, Louisa walked over, looking annoyed. "Why do you keep giving her money? Didn't she get anything from the divorce with James? Plus, your company's in bad shape. She doesn't even think about that and still uses your money. I've never seen a daughter like that!"
"Mom, don't say that in front of Jessica," John frowned and sighed. "She's finally starting to move on from the divorce. I just want her to be happy and carefree."
Louisa couldn't help but grumble, "I really don't get you. Pearl is your real daughter. Now she's missing, and you don't even care. If it weren't for you spoiling that woman back then and insisting on taking Jessica in..."
John cut her off, sternly, "Mom, I've told you many times, don't bring this up again. Jessica is my real daughter! If she hears you, I don't know if our relationship can survive."
