Chapter 292 Change Style

Despite Jessica's harsh words last night, James still had feelings for her.

He hit up Michael, asking him to keep tabs on John's case and keep schmoozing.

As long as there was a sliver of hope, they couldn't throw in the towel.

Michael thought about Jessica dropping by yesterday. He spilled everything to her, but wasn't sure if she went back and had it out with James.

Feeling a bit guilty, he asked, "How's Jessica? You guys good?"

James hesitated, wanting to admit they weren't good. But his pride got in the way, so he just said, "Same old."

"That's cool," Michael said, letting out a sigh of relief. He hoped this wouldn't mess up their relationship.

He then told James, "I'll brainstorm more ways to handle this case. Tell Jessica not to stress too much."

James sensed something fishy and asked suspiciously, "Why you suddenly so worried about Jessica?"

Why was everyone so hung up on her?

Michael quickly backpedaled. "Don't get it twisted! She's my client's daughter. Just doing my due diligence, right?"

With that, he hung up.

James tossed his phone aside, feeling hurt as he remembered Jessica calling him an old man last night.

He walked to the mirror and checked himself out, finding he didn't look that old.

Sure, he was six years older than her, but he was only 28, not even thirty yet!

He looked at his slicked-back hair, his suit, and his shiny shoes, and it seemed like he had found the root of the problem.

He immediately bailed from the office and drove solo to Golden Plaza.

In the evening, when Jessica saw James in sportswear and sneakers, riding a bike, she was floored.

Even his hairstyle was different, now a loose, fringe style.

This getup made him look less like the bossy CEO and more like a college kid.

"You... you..." Jessica stammered. James didn't have a twin brother, right?

James, in a foul mood, said coldly, "Come on. Hop on!"

Didn't Jessica like younger guys?

Didn't she like bike rides?

Then he'd give her what she wanted!

He was sure he was way better than Leo, that broke, immature dude!

Jessica took a couple steps back, eyeing him warily, and said, "Are you okay?"

James' face darkened. Glaring at her, he asked, "What do you mean?"

He got off the bike, parked it, and slowly walked towards her.

"I... I..." Jessica stammered, realizing the more she explained, the messier it got.

To make him dislike her, she pretended to be indifferent and said, "Maybe you should focus on your side chick and love child instead of spending all your time with me."

James was pissed, but he quickly swallowed it down.

He sneered, yanked her towards the bike, and said, "You got a point, but I also gotta take care of my wife! Get on, I'll take you home. We still need to work on making a baby tonight!"

Jessica's face instantly turned red with both shame and anger.
