Chapter 585 Susan Difficult to Schedule (1)

Rose sighed and said, "This Susan's got a weird way of doing things. No appointments, just a line. I guess she wants to keep it fair, but it makes her seem pretty unapproachable. I bet she's ticked off a lot of powerful people. Who in Ocean City has time to wait in line?"

James glanced at her and said, "Look, for Isaac's sake, waiting in line isn't a big deal. Susan's an expert; she's allowed to have her quirks. Remember, we're the ones asking for her help, so quit complaining."

Rose quickly smiled and said, "You're right, I'm just too anxious."

James reminded her, "Make sure to get Isaac there early tomorrow. It's first-come, first-served. I've got an important meeting in the morning, so I can't go with you. Call me if you need anything."

Rose looked at James. Even after five years, he was still so handsome, now with an added charm of maturity and steadiness.

She felt extremely happy and content.

So what if they weren't married?

She and Isaac had still moved in.

The servants still had to respectfully call her "Mrs."

The next morning, the cardiology department was packed because of the renowned heart surgeon Susan's clinic.

Unfortunately, there were only fifty slots available for the morning, and they would stop once those were filled.

Since Jessica had brought a new drug for research, many people brought their children to see if they could be included in Jessica's clinical trial.

The drug was very expensive, but if they could join Jessica's trial, they could use it for free.

Moreover, the drug had already shown effectiveness in early trials for children with congenital heart disease.

So, many people traveled long distances to Ocean City Hospital, some even starting to line up at three or four in the morning to save their child's life.

By the time Rose sent a servant to wait in line, Jessica's slots were already filled.

"Didn't I tell you to be at the hospital entrance by five in the morning?" she snapped. "What are we supposed to do now? If we can't get a slot, who will treat Isaac?"

The servant, feeling wronged, said, "Mrs. Kelly, please don't be angry. I got there before five, but there were already many people. I found out that many had started lining up at three or four."

Rose fumed, "What about scalpers? Offer ten times the price. I refuse to believe we can't buy a slot!"

The servant hesitated and said, "You might not know, but Susan's slots are really hard to get. Most people who got them are personally bringing their children. This is a matter of life and death; they wouldn't give up their slots easily."

Hearing this, Rose immediately threw a teacup at the servant and yelled, "What do you mean by that? Are you blaming me for making you wait in line and not fulfilling my duty as a mother?"

"Mrs. Kelly, that's not what I meant. Please don't be angry."

The servant felt wronged and secretly complained that Rose was too difficult to serve.

But Isaac's illness was Rose's top priority now, so she didn't have time to argue with the servant. She had to take Isaac to the hospital herself.

On the way, she contacted the hospital director and several other leaders.

After all, it was just adding one more slot. It wasn't like she was asking Susan to do something impossible.

She refused to believe that with the hospital leaders involved, Susan could still be so difficult and pretentious.
