Chapter 234 Honey, I Miss You Too

She hadn't finished the scarf for James yet, but with him still out, she had time to add the final touches.

Just then, John called. Jessica quickly answered, "Dad, it's late. What's up?"

"Are you resting?" John asked, sounding serious. "Is James with you?"

Jessica, confused, replied, "Why are you asking about James? He's working late at the office. He hasn't come back yet."

John paused before saying, "I took your grandma to the hospital today and saw him there. He didn't see me, but he was with a woman."

Jessica's heart sank, gripping her phone tighter. She thought of Rose. Sensing her silence, John continued, "I'm not sure if this woman is the one Pearl mentioned, but they seemed close."

"Do you know why they were there?" Jessica asked, anxiety creeping into her voice.

John sighed, "When I saw them, they were getting into the elevator. I don't know which department they went to. But why would James be with an ordinary woman at the hospital if it wasn't personal?"

Jessica's mind raced with doubt, but she quickly dismissed it. "Dad, it's probably a colleague or a relative. He told me he's done with Rose."

Jessica was trying to convince herself as much as her dad.

John, still worried, said, "Just be careful. Ask him directly. Don't be deceived."

"Yes, I understand, Dad," Jessica replied, hanging up, her tone subdued.

Holding her phone, she thought, 'Who did James go to the hospital with? Rose? Someone else?'

Her mind in turmoil, she put the nearly finished scarf away. Shaking her head, she muttered, "No, James wouldn't lie to me."

When he was with Rose, he had admitted it honestly.

Just then, she heard his familiar footsteps outside. Jessica quickly composed herself to look as usual.

James came in, looking tired. Loosening his tie, he asked, "Why are you still up?"

"Waiting for you," Jessica said, hesitant.

James smiled, kissed her, and whispered, "Don't wait up for me. Go to sleep, okay?"

Jessica suddenly hugged him, leaning into his arms.

"What's wrong?" James asked softly, "Did something happen at your internship? Tell me."

Jessica shook her head, murmuring, "No, I just missed you."

James smiled and whispered, "What did you miss about me?"

Jessica blushed, catching his meaning.

"You're terrible!" she muttered, diving under the covers.

James chuckled, pinched her cheek, and said seriously, "Honey, I missed you too."
