Chapter 193 James Uncovers the Truth
Jessica couldn't get the words out. John's actions had really hurt her. She sighed, giving up on trying to fix things. "James, let's go. I'm exhausted," she said, defeated.
"Hold on." James grabbed her arm, firm but gentle. "I promised to clear your name. Even if they sever ties with you, we need to set things straight today. Don't take the blame for Pearl's abortion!"
Jessica was surprised by his determination. Before she could respond, Joan, with fake confidence, sneered, "Mr. Kelly, you and Jessica have already messed up our family. Are you trying to make it worse?"
"Shut up!" James snapped, losing patience. He handed John his phone, showing a video.
The video showed Joan and Mary struggling during Mary's car accident.
John turned to Joan, eyes narrowed. "Explain why you were there when Mary had her accident. What were you doing, pulling at her?"
Panic hit Joan. She stammered, "Yes, I saw her that day. But this video proves my innocence! I didn't push her; she crossed the street and got into the accident herself!"
Jessica hadn't expected Joan to be there. Fueled by rage and confusion, she confronted Joan. "Then why was Mary looking for you? Why didn't you mention you were there?"
Thinking of Mary still in a coma, Jessica's anger surged.
Joan tried to stay calm. "What's the big deal? I was with Pearl for a prenatal checkup. Who knew Mary was following us? When I noticed, I chased her to find out why. She brought it on herself!"
Joan distanced herself from the car accident. Even if Jessica doubted her, there was no proof to back up the allegations.
James broke the silence. "Are you sure you were with your daughter for a prenatal checkup?"
Joan's face changed. "What do you mean? Of course, Pearl needed a checkup because she was pregnant!"
James's smirk was cold. "Should I bring in the doctor who did her abortion?" he said, menacingly. "You two are something else! Pearl had an abortion and tried to cover it up, making Jessica take the fall. Did you think no one would stand up for her?"
Panic flashed across Joan's face. She hadn't expected James to find out. She had made sure the doctor destroyed all records and even forged prenatal checkup records. How did James know?
John looked at Joan, understanding everything. Shaking with anger, he pointed at her. "Go, bring Pearl down here."
He wanted to confront them face-to-face about their malicious actions that had wronged Jessica repeatedly.
Seeing everything exposed, Joan cried, "John, don't listen to them! Pearl was pregnant with a Kelly family child. How could she have an abortion? It was Mary, under Jessica's orders, who caused Pearl's miscarriage. How can we let Pearl bear this alone?"
