Chapter 465 Wanting Her to Cooperate for a Lifetime (3)
Jessica's face turned red with heat.
But this shyness, in James's eyes, was especially adorable.
He considerately said, "You sit here and play with the tablet or read a magazine for a while. I'll have the secretary bring you some afternoon tea. After I finish my work, I'll take you to a movie, okay?"
Jessica nodded. She had no objections to whatever he said.
As long as she saw him well, without any harm or slander, she was already very satisfied.
When the secretary came in to deliver the fruit platter and snacks, Jessica realized that James's secretary was actually a man.
She remembered that his secretary's office used to be full of female secretaries.
After the male secretary left, Jessica asked mysteriously, "Why is your secretary a man now?"
James nonchalantly replied, "Those women were too gossip-prone, I didn't like it! Men talk less, less hassle. Most importantly, it won't make my wife misunderstand."
Jessica glared at him playfully and said, "Who's your wife?"
After saying that, she buried her head low, pretending to read a magazine, but her heart was inexplicably racing.
Everything he did gradually made her lose herself. She was even afraid that one day she would give up her principles and share him with other women.
Thinking of this, Jessica became even more flustered.
She picked up the milk in front of her and took a sip, trying to calm herself.
But as soon as she drank a little, the sweetness of the milk made her stomach churn.
Jessica was startled; morning sickness really came without warning.
She immediately walked to the sink, dry heaving a few times but not throwing up anything.
Seeing this, James quickly ran over and asked worriedly, "What's wrong?"
Jessica covered her guilt and nervousness, saying lightly, "It's nothing, I've just caught a cold recently, and my stomach feels a bit uncomfortable."
James was still worried, so he put down his work and said, "Let's go, we'll go to the hospital."
Jessica was so scared that she became very nervous.
She quickly said, "I'm really fine. I'm a doctor myself; I know better than you if there's a problem! Come on, get back to your work, or we won't have time to watch the movie tonight!"
James's deep eyes stared at her suspiciously for a long time before he asked, "Really nothing wrong?"
Jessica nodded emphatically.
Only then did James return to his desk to handle a pile of work.
Jessica took a long time to calm her previously racing heart.
At this moment, her Facebook popped up with a message from Lily.
"Jacob is coming back to the country soon. Let's have a meal together then."
Jacob was someone who had grown up with Lily, three years older than her, with equally matched family backgrounds. Their families had arranged their engagement long ago.
Even more fortunately, they were in love with each other, not just a traditional business marriage; they had genuine feelings for each other.
Jessica thought about how the three of them used to have a great relationship. Jacob and Lily both took good care of her. Now that Jacob was returning, she should go see him.
So, she agreed and teased, "If I go, will I be interrupting your date with Jacob?"
Lily sent an emoji and said, "You have to come! I haven't seen Jacob in a long time. I'd be shy by myself. After dinner, you can leave, and then I'll be with Jacob..."
Jessica replied, "Shameless!"
Lily immediately retorted, "What are you thinking? Ever since you got with James, your mind is full of romantic stuff. You're not pure at all!"
