Chapter 515 He Still Left (1)
Just then, James's phone rang abruptly.
Jessica had no choice but to fall silent.
James answered the call. Whatever was said on the other end made him slam on the brakes, causing Jessica to slam hard against the seatback.
"What happened?"
Seeing James so tense, Jessica asked, "Whose call was that?"
James's face looked terrible, but he didn't want to deceive Jessica.
He said each word deliberately, "Rose was caught in a terrorist attack abroad and has been taken hostage. I need to go abroad immediately."
Jessica's expression froze. She wondered what kind of stunt Rose was pulling this time.
Only James would believe it!
James started the car again and said, "I'll take you home now. When I get back from abroad, I'll go with you for the check-up, okay?"
Jessica seemed to see her future life unfold before her eyes.
If she really went back to him, Rose would continue to intrude into their lives now and then.
Jessica felt extremely uncomfortable and distressed.
She wanted to take a gamble. If James believed her this time and didn't go abroad to find Rose,
then at least she could be sure that she weighed more in James's heart than Rose did.
At that moment, Jessica glanced at his tense expression from the corner of her eye and said, "Even if it's not as safe abroad as it is here, it's too much of a coincidence. Why would a terrorist organization target her? Could it be that she wants to see you and has concocted some scheme? After all, she's done it before."
James frowned and said disapprovingly, "Jessica, I don't want to discuss the truth of this matter with you right now. The area where Rose is has been attacked by terrorists, not just her. This is a fact! She's pregnant and has never seen such violence. I have to go. This is a matter of life and death, not a time for you to be jealous."
Jessica looked at him, hurt, and said, "You think I'm being jealous? James, you said before that you wouldn't let her affect my life. But now, one call from her can take you abroad."
James gripped the steering wheel tightly, his lips pressed into a thin line, and said in a low voice, "But right now, she needs me. She's carrying my child."
"What if I am too!"
Jessica suddenly shouted at him.
The car fell silent.
Coincidentally, James had already driven to the villa's entrance.
Jessica's eyes shone with stubbornness as she glared at him and said, "You heard me right. What if I'm also carrying your child? Would you still go to her?"
A moment of shock flashed across James's face. Quickly, he said irritably, "Stop it, Jessica! Get out of the car and go inside. I need to get to the airport."
At that moment, all the light left Jessica's eyes.
With tears glistening in her eyes, she looked at him motionlessly and said, "So, you're still going to her, right?"
James didn't speak, but his silence said it all.
Jessica turned her head in disappointment.
The truth no longer mattered.
She could have taken out the pregnancy test and thrown it in his face to prove her innocence.
But it was no longer necessary.
A man who didn't trust her, a man who had another woman in his heart, was not worth holding onto.
Jessica pushed open the car door and got out as if escaping.
As she turned back, she saw James's car speeding away without a hint of hesitation.
Cold tears slid from her eyes, and Jessica smiled self-mockingly.
