Chapter 576 Five Years Later (3)

After speaking, she pulled out a limited edition doll and a special Lego set, saying, "I went through a lot to get these for you. Do you like them?"

Colt grabbed the Lego set, his serious demeanor instantly melting into pure excitement. "Mom, how did you know I wanted this one?"

Cordelia hugged the doll and started jumping around. "Mom, you're the best! I love you so much!"

Jessica patted both kids on the head, smiling warmly. "Happy birthday, my darlings! Have fun while I go check on Nathan."

With that, she headed towards the kitchen.

Nathan was already familiar with everything there. He was skillfully cleaning up after cooking. "You're back? How did the experiment go?"

Jessica pouted. "The results haven't been great these past few days. I came up with a new idea today, and that's why I forgot about Colt and Cordelia's birthday."

Nathan smiled and reassured her, "This project isn't urgent. Besides, the approach is pretty complex. Take your time; no one's rushing you."

Jessica returned a grateful smile. "Thanks, Nathan."

Over the years, Nathan had been a tremendous help to her both academically and in daily life.

In this place where she had no other family, she even felt that Nathan was her only relative.

Nathan simply said, "I've told you before, when we're not in the lab, you can just call me by my name. Even in the hospital, you can call me by my name."

"I'm still not used to it."

Jessica smiled awkwardly. "I've always seen you as a teacher and an older brother. I can't bring myself to call you by your name."

Nathan sighed softly, hiding the sadness in his eyes.

After all this time, Jessica still treated him with the same respect and politeness.

She would never give him any other role in her life.

That evening, Nathan and Jessica celebrated Colt and Cordelia's birthday. The kids eagerly ran to their room to play with their new gifts.

Jessica rubbed her temples, frowning.

Nathan noticed and asked with concern, "What's wrong? Is your headache starting again?"

"Yeah."

Jessica said, frustrated, "Lately, my head's been hurting again. It's not severe, but it's always uncomfortable. And I've been having these weird dreams."

A strange look flashed in Nathan's eyes. "How about this? Tomorrow, I'll take you to see Mark. He's the best in neurology."

Jessica sighed, feeling melancholic. "Unfortunately, no matter how good he is, he can't help me remember the past. There's always this blank spot in my mind. I try so hard to remember, but nothing comes back. Even though you've told me about my life before the amnesia, I still have no recollection."

Nathan suppressed his inner turmoil and said calmly, "Let's see what he says tomorrow."
