Chapter 98 Can You Not Leave

Jessica went back to the bedroom and stood by the window, trying to see what was happening in the yard. She tried not to look, not to think, but she couldn't help wondering what they were doing.

She saw James go inside while Rose stayed in the yard. Sensing her scrutiny, Rose lifted her gaze, and their eyes locked.

Jessica saw a glint of triumph and provocation in Rose's eyes. She quickly closed the curtains and turned away, her chest heaving.

It turned out that those who were unretainable, in the end, just couldn't be retained.

Just then, the bedroom door opened. James walked in with a suitcase, calmly saying, "I'm going to stay somewhere else for a while. Olivia will take care of you while I'm gone."

Jessica stood tall, forcing a smile and pretending to be relaxed, "Don't worry about me. Just take care of her."

James placed a black card in her hand, "Take this card. There's enough money here if you need it."

Jessica's hand trembled. She couldn't hold back anymore and choked out, "Didn't you say you wouldn't divorce me? You said it just the other day! Why did you deceive me?"

James looked down and said in a hoarse voice, "I'm sorry."

"I don't want your money." Jessica threw the card at him.

But James didn't react.

After a long pause, she suddenly said, "Can you not leave?" She was terrified that once he left, she'd never have him again.

But once James made a decision, it was hard to change. Besides, Rose's illness was serious.

He placed the card on the coffee table and said, "You'll need money for many things."

Then he dragged his suitcase towards the door.

Jessica closed her eyes tightly, clenched her fists, and said, "So, you've decided to divorce, right? Then sign the papers before you go."

James stopped and turned back. Jessica didn't dare look at him, afraid she wouldn't be able to let go.

She kept her eyes closed, and said in a indifferent voice, "James, I can't stand this back-and-forth. Since you've chosen her, let's get divorced now. It'll be better for all of us."

James hesitated, then nodded, "Alright, once this period is over, we'll take care of it."

Rose's illness was urgent, and maybe only marriage could pull her out of her depression.

He admitted he had hesitated before, rarely bringing up the matter himself. But now, he couldn't afford to hesitate.

Jessica fell silent. James didn't make things difficult for her. He agreed to her request. But why did her heart hurt even more, as if a knife had cruelly carved out a piece of flesh?
