Chapter 139 Pearl Was Sent to the ER
Jessica froze, her heart sinking.
She saw Pearl on the ground, blood everywhere.
"My belly hurts," Pearl cried, clutching her stomach.
Joan's voice cut through, "Oh my God, Pearl, what happened?"
She rushed over, shoving Jessica with all her might, and yelled, "You vile girl! What did Pearl ever do to you? Someone, help! Call Serenity Hospital, quick!"
Jessica's mind went blank, the blood making her dizzy.
Later, the only sounds that filled the air were the wailing sirens of the ambulance and the frantic shouts of Joan and Louisa.
Despite the chaos, Jessica knew she had to take responsibility. She hadn't expected Pearl to fall down the stairs.
She got in her car and followed the ambulance.
Pearl was rushed into the emergency room.
When Jessica arrived, the door was already closed.
Louisa's eyes blazed with fury as she saw Jessica. Without a second thought, she slapped her hard.
Jessica's cheek burned with pain as she stared at Louisa in utter disbelief.
Louisa fumed, "You wicked girl! Can't you stand to see the Evans family doing well, or Pearl being happy? What do you gain from causing Pearl to lose her child?"
Louisa's words were like steel needles, stabbing into Jessica's heart and leaving her feeling awful.
Jessica remembered the scene and denied, "No, I didn't push her. I just shook off her hand. How could she have fallen?"
Joan stepped up, gritting her teeth, "Are you saying Pearl fell down the stairs on purpose? What possible good would that do her? She finally got pregnant with Jack's child. She cherishes it more than anyone!"
Jessica, utterly bewildered, couldn't understand how things had spiraled so out of control.
The emergency room door opened, and the doctor said, "The patient's condition is bad. The child couldn't be saved. We're still operating. The family should be prepared."
Jessica's heart sank. She disliked Pearl but never wanted to harm her or her unborn child.
Soon, Jack and Gerald arrived.
Joan was crying uncontrollably like she'd been wronged.
Jessica leaning against the wall, remained silent, her eyes red.
Gerald frowned, "What happened? How could Pearl's child be gone? Wasn't everything fine before?"
Jack felt relieved. The child was bound to be miscarried sooner or later, and now Pearl couldn't use it to blackmail him.
Louisa stepped forward, "Mr. Gerald Kelly, this is a scandal within the Evans family, but the child Pearl lost was also the first great-grandchild of the Kelly family. Jessica is your granddaughter-in-law. Today, I'll tell you the truth!"
Joan cried, "Mr. Gerald Kelly, you must stand up for Pearl! Jessica has been jealous of Pearl since they were young. Now that Pearl got pregnant with the Kelly family's child before her, she held a grudge. She pushed Pearl down the stairs, causing her to lose the child. She must be feeling satisfied now."
