Chapter 596 Incompatible as Water and Fire (4)
In the morning, when he called, Rose had clearly said that Susan was willing to treat Isaac.
So why was Lonnie saying the complete opposite? Lonnie explained, "Didn't Mrs. Kelly tell you? I was worried she might have conveyed things in a biased way out of anger, so I wanted to explain it to you personally."
James furrowed his brow tightly and said, "Alright, I understand. Thanks, Lonnie."
After hanging up, he immediately got up and went to the hospital where Isaac was staying.
When Rose saw him coming, she pretended everything was fine and said with a smile, "Isaac's doing much better today than yesterday."
James, with a stern face, said, "Come outside with me for a moment. I need to ask you something."
Rose was slightly taken aback and started to feel nervous, but she had no choice but to follow James outside.
As soon as they left the room, James coldly questioned, "Why did you lie today? Did Susan really agree to treat Isaac?"
Rose's expression changed, and she forced a smile, "Did you hear something?"
"Rose, I'm the one asking the questions now. What exactly are you trying to do?"
James couldn't help but accuse, "We both know Isaac's condition can't be delayed any longer. If Susan refuses to treat him, why didn't you tell me the truth? By hiding this and not coming up with another solution, you're playing with Isaac's life. Do you understand that?"
Rose, in a panic, could only plead with teary eyes, "James, let's find a better doctor for Isaac. Susan isn't the only one in the world who can treat him. Do you know how unreasonable her demands were today?"
James's impression of Susan was getting worse by the minute. Listening to Rose's description, he felt that Susan was too eccentric and difficult to deal with.
He frowned and asked, "What did she demand?"
Rose angrily replied, "To make things difficult for me, she demanded that we cover the medical expenses for all the children in the pediatric ward and that I apologize to her in front of Lonnie. I can apologize for Isaac's sake, but making us cover the medical expenses for so many children is just unreasonable, isn't it?"
James was also getting angry. Why would Susan make such harsh and unreasonable demands? Rose, trying to prevent him from meeting Susan in person, suggested, "James, I have a good idea. We can bribe someone at the hospital to get the medicine Susan uses for those kids. That way, we won't be under her control, and we can still treat Isaac."
James felt like Rose was hiding something from him.
Although he couldn't pinpoint what was wrong, his intuition told him he should meet this Susan.
Who was she, really, to be so difficult?
Besides, even if they managed to get the medicine secretly, they wouldn't know the correct dosage or how to use it.
In the end, they still needed Susan to administer the treatment to feel assured.
Outwardly, he agreed to Rose's suggestion, "I'll have Sean figure out a way to get the medicine."
Rose breathed a sigh of relief, but her back was already drenched in cold sweat.
That was close!
Seeing that James had no intention of meeting Susan personally, Rose felt relieved and went back to the room to take care of Isaac.
Meanwhile, James called Sean and instructed, "Find out Susan's schedule for tomorrow. I need to meet her as soon as possible."
