Chapter 283 The Conflict Would Erupt Sooner Or Later
The gloom from the past few days seemed to have lifted. Jessica figured with James's connections and skills, he'd get John out of trouble in no time. As she hit the hospital entrance, she ran into Kylie.
"Why the big smile today?" Kylie asked, eyeing the Maybach that just drove off. "Did your hubby get a new ride?"
Jessica nodded, grinning.
Seeing her in such a good mood, Kylie couldn't help but dig deeper, "Did you sort out that mess with the other woman? How'd you handle it?"
Jessica's smile faded a bit. She whispered, "He sent her abroad."
Kylie pressed on, "What about the kid?"
Jessica's good mood vanished instantly. She mumbled, "The kid's still with her.."
Kylie sighed deeply, "Jessica, wake up. That woman's living it up abroad, spending your husband's cash. How can you still be happy? You think this is over? Just 'cause she's abroad doesn't mean she won't come back with the kid later."
Jessica knew Kylie was right. But with John in trouble, James was her only hope. Plus, she wasn't ready to cut ties with him completely. She depended on him and couldn't even imagine life without him.
Forcing a smile, she said, "I've thought about what you said. But he promised me that Rose and the kid wouldn't affect me. Besides, I love him."
"Are you serious?" Kylie poked her head, exasperated. "You should've made sure that Rose got rid of the kid and then cut ties with your husband! That's what you should've done."
Jessica sighed, feeling down, "James wouldn't agree to that." If Rose lost her ability to have kids because of the abortion, James would never forgive her.
Kylie looked at her sympathetically, seeing Jessica was fooling herself. The conflict would blow up sooner or later. Jessica was just temporarily lost in James's charm.
Seeing it was almost eight o'clock, Kylie sighed, "Alright, I gotta go. Our professor is heading to a private gynecology hospital for a consultation today, and I'm tagging along! I heard the pregnant woman's case is super complicated, so I'm gonna learn from it."
"Okay, don't be late. Go on," Jessica said, waving her off at the elevator.
At the Kelly Corporation, when James showed up wearing the scarf Jessica had given him, it definitely got people talking. The secretaries were whispering among themselves.
"Did you see the scarf Mr. Kelly's wearing? Looks like something from a bargain bin."
"Don't talk nonsense! Would Mr. Kelly wear that kind of scarf? It's gotta be a new item from a big brand. Looks plain, but it's probably worth a fortune."
"No way, I know big brands, and I've never seen this style. Bet it's custom-made. Lots of Mr. Kelly's suits are custom-made by famous designers."
Just then, Sean walked over and cleared his throat loudly. The secretaries were startled and quickly lowered their heads, mumbling, "Morning, Mr. Price."
Sean's stern gaze swept over them. "Got nothing to do? If Mr. Kelly catches you gossiping, there might be a new batch of secretaries here tomorrow!"
