Chapter 336 Nathan Helped Her Out (3)

Nathan thought to himself, 'I never imagined she'd be such a tyrant behind the scenes, treating students poorly and having terrible relationships with her colleagues. No matter how talented she is, she's got no future!'

He turned to Jessica and said, "I'm really sorry for not keeping an eye on things. It must've been tough for you. I'll have a word with Cynthia later."

"Thanks, Professor Howard," Jessica replied, her smile glowing under the moonlight.

Nathan was momentarily taken aback, his heart skipping a beat.

"I've learned so much today," Jessica continued. "It's getting late, I should head back. Goodbye, Professor Howard."

But Nathan stopped her, "It's pretty late. It's not safe for you to go back alone. Let me give you a ride."

"That's really kind of you, but I don't want to trouble you," Jessica quickly declined.

Nathan insisted, "It's no trouble at all. Plus, after a long night of surgery, you must be starving, right?"

Jessica realized she was indeed hungry. She tried to deny it, but her growling stomach betrayed her. Blushing, she said, "I'll just make some noodles when I get home."

"Do I look like a dangerous person?" Nathan suddenly asked.

Jessica was taken aback.

He chuckled, "You look like you're afraid I'm going to eat you."

Jessica finally gave in, "Thank you, Professor Howard."

"Hop in," Nathan said, opening the passenger door for her. "What do you feel like eating?"

"It's late. Let's hit the night market. There should still be some food stalls open," Jessica suggested.

"Sounds good," Nathan agreed, surprisingly energetic despite the long surgery. "I've been abroad for years and haven't been to the night market here in ages. Is it near the university?"

"Yeah," Jessica smiled shyly. "I know the area pretty well and can show you the best spots."

Nathan glanced at her, admiring her youthful innocence.

Jessica suddenly thought of something and asked, "Professor Howard, the night market is mostly street food. Do you think it's unsanitary?"

James, who was a clean freak, always thought the university town's eateries were dirty, especially the street food. She worried Nathan might feel the same way.

Nathan laughed, "Back in college, I didn't want to rely on my family, so I worked part-time and ate street food all the time. Those were some of the best times."

Jessica looked at him, surprised. She didn't expect someone from the prestigious Howard family to be so down-to-earth.

So, she took him to her favorite tortellini stand.
