Chapter 174 James's Most Perverted Play

Michael's phone rang, and he knew it was Lily, even without a name showing. He hadn't expected her to call so soon after almost tossing his business card at the ball.

Michael grinned at James and hit the speakerphone. Lily's voice was softer than usual. "Mr. Watson, do you have a moment?"

Michael smirked. "Miss Stewart, calling now is a bit bold, don't you think?"

Silence. Just her shallow breaths. Michael thought she must need something big; otherwise, she'd have hung up or snapped back.

Not wanting to push too hard, he said, "Miss Stewart, if you have something to say, just say it. My time is valuable."

After a long pause, Lily spoke carefully, "I have a friend who wants a divorce. I heard you're very capable. Could you help her?"

Michael asked knowingly, "Which friend? Divorcing whom?"

Lily hesitated before breaking. "Divorcing James! It's James's wife, Jessica. You know her."

Michael chuckled. "Miss Stewart, are you serious? You know my relationship with James, right? And why would you deem that I will help you sue him?"

James, overhearing, suddenly sobered up. He hadn't expected Jessica to move so fast. He sneered inwardly, 'Well done!'

Michael continued, "Sorry, Miss Stewart, I can't take this case."

Lily pleaded, "Mr. Watson, please. You don't know about his... perverse methods in private!"

Michael's interest grew. "Oh? Tell me more."

Lily took a deep breath. "He abuses my friend, physically and emotionally! He's a serial cheater and hits women! In intimate moments, he tortures her! Don't you think she should divorce him?"

Her words were heavy with urgency. She was trying to paint James in the worst light to get Michael's sympathy.

Unexpectedly, Michael's tone shifted to sincere interest. "Is that so? I'll think about it. Miss Stewart, come to the office tomorrow, and we can discuss it in person."

Lily's heart tightened, sensing his underlying meaning. But she had to save Jessica, no matter what. No turning back now.

She asked, "When are you available?"

"After six tomorrow evening," Michael replied casually, with a suggestive undertone.

Discussing a case should be professional, but by choosing after-hours, he made his intentions clear.
