Chapter 509 When Will You Accept Me? (3)

Nathan corrected, "Just call me teacher from now on. All my students call me that. No need for Professor Howard or Mr. Howard, it's too formal."

Kelly Corporation.

James spent another night at the office, and understandably, he was in a terrible mood.

He didn't know what to do about Jessica.

He couldn't let go, but if he didn't, Jessica wouldn't give her heart to him again.

Last night, he wasn't just angry at Jessica; he was more angry at himself.

He couldn't understand why he had let things reach such a stalemate.

Why had he let down two women at the same time?

Just then, the secretary knocked on the door and said, "Mr. Kelly, there's a Mr. Evans here to see you. Do you want to meet him?"

James immediately thought of John.

He asked the secretary to let him in.

John looked terrible, dark and haggard.

James had the secretary pour some tea and asked directly, "Why did you come to see me today? Is there something you need?"

John kept his head down, seemingly contemplating how to start.

After a long silence, he finally said, "I want to ask you to take care of Jessica for me in the future. I'm entrusting her to you."

James frowned, feeling inexplicably worried.

He pressed, "Is that all you came to tell me today? What do you mean by entrusting Jessica to me? Where are you planning to go?"

John sighed, his eyes welling up with tears, "I'm getting old, and I probably won't be able to take care of Jessica for much longer. After all, I have debts from the past that I need to repay. That man's son is Lawyer Watson, right?"

James's heart sank, and he didn't say anything, which was as good as an acknowledgment.

No wonder Jessica said yesterday that John was acting strange and seemed off.

He looked at John and asked, "Did Michael find you? What did he say to you?"

"I went to find him."

John said in a low voice, "Jessica came back that day and told me about Lily, and I suspected that Lawyer Watson was that man's son. So the next day, I went to find him, and sure enough, he's here for revenge. He won't let the Stewart family go, and he won't let me go either. I don't blame him; if I were the victim, I wouldn't easily forgive my enemy either."

At that moment, James actually felt a bit sorry for John.

Maybe it was because he was Jessica's father?

So he softened his tone and comforted, "I've talked to Michael about this before. His main focus is still on Adam. After all, Adam was the decision-maker back then, not you. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. As long as I'm here, he won't go too hard on you."

John looked at him deeply and said in a trembling voice, "Thank you, Mr. Kelly. Both our Evans family and Jessica have caused you a lot of trouble. But when I see what Lily has become, I'm really afraid that one day Jessica will also become a target of Lawyer Watson's revenge. If that's the case, I'm willing to atone for my sins, but please, you must protect Jessica. That's my only request."

James looked a bit surprised and asked, "How do you plan to atone for your sins?"

John smiled and said, "At the very least, I need to help Lawyer Watson resolve his old grudge, right? That's what I owe the Watson family. You don't need to worry about this, Mr. Kelly. I'm leaving now."

John stood up, his steps a bit unsteady.

"Mr. Evans."

James suddenly called out to him, his tone a bit concerned, "You don't look well. Do you need to see a doctor?"
