Chapter 569 He Wants Custody of the Child (2)
Just then, Jessica suddenly stepped in front of them and shoved him hard.
James was stunned, because he could clearly see the hatred in Jessica's eyes.
Nathan was also taken aback and quickly asked, "Why'd you come out here? And without a coat?"
"I was worried about you."
Jessica frowned at him, all her frustration evident in her silence.
Nathan said, "Jessica, go back inside. This is between us guys. Wait for me inside, I'll be back soon."
James watched the scene unfold, feeling like a volcano was about to erupt in his chest.
He watched helplessly as Jessica showed concern for another man, watched as she drifted further away from him.
James rushed over, grabbed her hand, and said, "You're coming home with me."
Nathan saw his aggressive move and immediately blocked him, saying, "Didn't you hear what Jessica just said? She already told you she doesn't want to go back with you!"
Rage boiled in James's eyes as he stared intently at Jessica and demanded, "I want to hear it from you! I want to hear you say it!"
Jessica's eyes were filled with pain, her voice trembling as she said, "Yes, James, I don't want to go back to you. Let's break up, please let me go!"
By the end, she was sobbing uncontrollably, and Nathan gently held her, afraid she might collapse.
James lunged forward, shoving Nathan aside, and pulled her into his arms.
"Jessica, you don't have to put on an act with him. I know you don't love him," James said urgently. "About Rose, let's go home and I'll explain everything."
Jessica glared at him with hatred, gritting her teeth. "What is there to explain? On the day we were supposed to get our marriage license, you left me to go find her. That says more than any explanation ever could! Do you know what happened to me while you were with her? I needed you too! But you were never there when I needed you."
"Yes, it's all my fault."
James ignored her struggles, holding her tightly, and said in a low voice, "Jessica, believe me, she won't come back again. This is the last time, the last time."
"Every time you say it's the last time."
Jessica's eyes were bloodshot as she cried out, "As long as I'm with you, that vile woman will never give up. So I'm leaving! Every day with you is pure agony, pure agony, do you understand?"
She finished with all her strength, and the world seemed to suddenly fall silent, still.
James could clearly see the hatred and determination in her eyes.
This time, she seemed truly resolved to leave him.
But James didn't want to show weakness in front of Nathan. He stood tall, looking down at Jessica, and asked, "What about the baby? Where do you plan to take my child? With him?"
He pointed at Nathan and said, "Jessica, if you think my child is going to call this man 'Dad,' you can forget it! You want to leave me, fine. But after you give birth, the custody is mine. The child stays, and you can go wherever you want!"
With that, he shot them a cold glare and stormed off.
Jessica's heart suddenly felt empty.
She stared in disbelief at the direction he had gone.
What kind of man could be so cruel? So heartless?
Jessica never imagined that in the end, he would fight her for the child.
