Chapter 208 It's Not Like Her at All

"So... you invited them here," Jessica muttered, thinking about the recent misunderstandings, her imprisonment, and being cut off from her dad. Her heart still hurt.

James, sensing her pain, gently explained, "They wanted to come. Mr. Evans visited Kelly Corporation yesterday, saying he regretted everything. So, I asked them to come today to apologize to you in person."

Touched by his thoughtfulness, Jessica leaned on his shoulder and whispered, "James, thank you."

James smiled and pinched her cheek. "As long as you're happy. Let's get out of the car. Mr. Evans has probably been waiting."

Jessica nodded, and they stepped out of the car, fingers intertwined. John and Louisa quickly approached.

"Jessica," John said, his voice trembling with guilt. "I'm sorry. I made you suffer."

Jessica, having reflected on everything, smiled slightly. "Dad, let's go inside and talk."

Louisa, looking remorseful, kept her head down, unable to meet Jessica's eyes. The past was still fresh in her mind.

Inside the villa, James knew his presence might make things awkward. "I'll go to the study to handle some things. You entertain them, okay?"

Jessica smiled and nodded.

After James left, John sighed with relief. "Jessica, seeing how well James treats you, I feel better. If you still blame me, I deserve it."

Jessica felt a lump in her throat. "Dad, I don't blame you anymore."

John's eyes turned red. "Do you really forgive me? I made a grave mistake to disown you with that statement, but I had my reasons."

Louisa, unable to bear seeing her son so humbled, interrupted. "Blame me! I forced John to cut ties with you! I didn't realize Joan and Pearl were using me!"

Jessica felt disappointed. Louisa's words lacked the apology she hoped for. "Grandma, why do you hate me so much? I've always tried to please you, but you never treated me like your granddaughter. Last time, you slandered me in front of Mr. Gerald Kelly and imprisoned me. Didn't you feel any pain for me?"

Louisa's silence spoke volumes. John, sensing the tension, hurried to interject. "Jessica, you're overthinking it. How could your grandmother not treat you as her granddaughter? You and Pearl are both my children. We feel the same about both of you."

Jessica forced a smile. "Really?" she replied, struggling to hide the sarcasm. The truth was clear—John was the only one who consistently showed her love.

John's expression hardened slightly. "Jessica, don't worry. I've already kicked Joan and Pearl out of the house. They won't come back."

Louisa, looking puzzled and slightly irritated, added, "But it's strange. Joan was making a fuss about a divorce and splitting assets. Why hasn't she come to cause trouble recently? It's not like her at all!"
