Chapter 510 When Will You Accept Me? (4)
John said with relief, "Thanks for your concern, but it's not necessary!"
And with that, he left Kelly Corporation.
James watched his back, feeling an increasingly strong sense of foreboding.
John suddenly came to him today and said all these inexplicable things. Could it be that he was just talking?
He said he wanted to atone. How exactly does he plan to atone?
James spent the entire day thinking about John's words, to the point where he couldn't focus on work.
The hospital.
Jessica had taken a long leave, and a new batch of patients had already been admitted to the ward.
So she had to continue working overtime after her shift, reviewing all the patients' conditions and committing them to memory.
As the department head, Nathan usually didn't need to work overtime unless there was an emergency surgery.
But tonight, seeing Jessica sitting under the sunset, seriously browsing through the medical records on the computer, he inexplicably didn't want to leave either.
So Nathan stayed to keep her company.
Watching Nathan print the consent forms for the next day's surgeries, Jessica quickly said, "Mr. Howard, these are my tasks. Why are you doing my work?"
Nathan smiled gently and said, "I was worried you'd be too tired, so I'm helping you out. You go review the medical records; this is no big deal, I can print them myself."
Jessica felt very embarrassed. After all, someone of Nathan's status really didn't need to do such trivial tasks.
Seeing that it was almost seven o'clock, Nathan asked, "Are you hungry? Should I order some food to be delivered, or should we go out to eat?"
Jessica politely said, "Mr. Howard, you don't need to go to the trouble. I'll just eat at home later."
"How can that be? You've been working overtime because of work, and as your mentor, if I don't even take care of your dinner, people would say I'm too stingy."
As he said this, Nathan had already opened the food delivery app and asked, "How about some barbecue? My sister mentioned that the barbecue from this place is pretty good."
At the mention of barbecue, Jessica immediately felt nauseous.
She ran to the sink, dry heaving, feeling her stomach churn.
Ever since she got pregnant, she couldn't stand the thought of greasy food, let alone eat it.
Otherwise, her morning sickness would be severe.
Nathan immediately walked over and asked, "Are you okay?"
Jessica took a long time to feel a bit better.
She forced a smile and said, "I'm fine, just some stomach discomfort lately."
"Come on, I'll take you to the gastroenterology department for a check-up."
Nathan said as he was about to take her to see a colleague in gastroenterology.
Jessica was startled and quickly said, "No, no, I'm really fine, no need to trouble anyone."
Nathan, still worried, said, "But I remember the last time we were on duty together, you also had stomach discomfort. This can't go on. You're still young; if there's a problem, you should get it checked out. If there's nothing wrong, then you'll have peace of mind, right?"
Just as the two were 'at an impasse,' James's voice came from the doorway.
"With so many doctors in the cardiothoracic department, does Professor Howard have to keep my wife working overtime?"
As he spoke, James walked into the office, his voice tinged with sarcasm, "Is this male-female collaboration to make work more efficient?"
