Chapter 194 Let's Get a Divorce

John slapped her hard across the face. "Bitch! You turned Pearl into this! The evidence is right here, and you still argue!"

Pearl heard the commotion and rushed downstairs to stop John.

The living room was a mess, filled with shouting and fighting.

Jessica watched, feeling no joy, just sadness that John didn't trust her before seeing the evidence. As for Joan and Pearl, they were getting what they deserved.

She sighed inwardly, 'Poor Dad, still dealing with this at his age.'

James snapped, "Return the compensation from the Kelly family in three days, or I'll sue you. No one in Ocean City dares to defraud the Kelly family!"

Pearl suddenly laughed loudly. Things had escalated; the child was lost, and the money was gone. If she was going down, she'd take Jessica with her.

She told James, "Do you really think Jessica is devoted to you? She seduced Jack and was defiled long ago."

She and Joan had sent Jessica to the Skyline Club. Even if Henry Garcia didn't sleep with her, someone else did!

James's face darkened with anger, and Jessica almost collapsed. This was an unresolved issue for them.

Pearl smiled triumphantly, knowing she had sown discord.

John, furious, slapped her too and scolded, "Even now, you dare to sow discord between Jessica and James! Truly incorrigible!"

"Their relationship needs my interference?" Pearl laughed mockingly. "You're clueless, aren't you? James attended the party with his lover. He abandoned Jessica long ago! Think Jessica could bask in luxury with the Kelly family without my influence? Dream on!"

James's eyes flashed with a hint of murderous intent, not just towards Pearl and Joan but also towards Jessica. He walked out, and Jessica hurried to follow.

"James, stop!" Jessica called out at the gate.

James hadn't expected Jessica to speak to him so boldly after her affair became public. He stopped, his eyes cold and devoid of warmth. He admitted that he had developed feelings for Jessica over time.

But as a man, he couldn't accept that her body had been with someone else. Moreover, with so many people knowing, he felt his dignity was greatly insulted.

Jessica stood a few feet away, gathering every ounce of courage. Her voice, initially shaky, grew determined. "Don't you want to know who the man I've been hiding is? I'll tell you now," she declared.

She couldn't hold back any longer; the need to reveal everything overwhelmed her. Whether he accepted it or not, she couldn't bear for him to think she was the kind of unclean woman Pearl had painted her to be.

Unfortunately, James didn't give her the chance. Just as she was about to speak, James interrupted harshly, "I don't want to know! Jessica, I don't care who that person is. Let's get a divorce!"

The words were like a blade slicing through her heart. It was the second time he had personally mentioned divorce, each instance chipping away at her already fragile spirit.
