Chapter 544 Refusing Rose (2)

She was livid, yelling, "This is insane! You're just as nasty as Jessica. You'll get what's coming to you!"

James, hearing her venomous outburst, responded icily, "Go ahead, tear up those photos. I've got hundreds more. If you don't want the Evans family's reputation completely trashed, if you don't want everyone to see Joan and Pearl's disgrace, you'd better stop messing with Jessica! Otherwise, you'll regret it!"

With that, he turned and walked away.

Soon, Louisa's enraged screams echoed from the house, "Joan, Pearl! Get out here! What is going on?" A cold smile crept across James's lips.

If Louisa wanted to make Jessica's life difficult, he could just as easily make Louisa and Pearl's lives miserable.

Meanwhile, Louisa's shouting in the living room caught Joan and Pearl's attention.

They hurried downstairs, putting on a show of concern.

"Grandma, what's wrong?" Pearl asked, "Are you thinking about Dad again? You need to take care of yourself."

Louisa slapped her across the face, her voice trembling with anger, "Tell me, after your father kicked you and Joan out of the Evans family, where did you go?"

Pearl clutched her cheek, staring at Louisa in disbelief.

She was flustered, stammering, "We rented a cheap place. It was tough."

"Lies!"

Louisa pointed at Joan, shouting, "It must be you. You must have led Pearl astray. I can't believe the Evans family has produced such shameless women. Prostitutes!"

Joan was horrified, quickly saying, "Mom, there must be some misunderstanding. Did someone tell you something?"

Louisa threw the photos in her face, demanding, "Is this you?"

Joan looked at the photos of herself, naked and with a man, her face turning red.

She screamed, "Where did these come from? How do you have these?"

"If you don't want others to know your secrets, the best way is to have no secrets! What a disgrace to the Evans family. How did we end up with such ungrateful, shameless descendants?"

Fearing that the good life she had just regained would slip away, Joan knelt in front of Louisa, crying, "Mom, Pearl and I had no choice! James and Jessica forced us to do this, or they would have thrown us into the sea to feed the fish!"

Louisa's eyes widened, nearly losing her balance, "They were that cruel? John really brought a wolf into the house. Because of raising Jessica, he ended up harming his daughter!"

Pearl and Joan exchanged a secret glance, realizing Louisa believed their story.

From that day on, Louisa indeed didn't dare to provoke Jessica again.

Before they knew it, the year was coming to an end.

Jessica, busy with her MCAT preparations, didn't bring up the puzzling incident again.

In the study, Jessica was still buried in thick medical textbooks.

James entered, seeing her noticeably swollen belly, and gently hugged her from behind.

"It's past ten. You should rest."
